Overall great location. You are 2 blocks from the train Shari on and also from old down (Cathedral):

Modern hotel, clean and comfortable rooms. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Basic lounge is available (nothing special)

Our rooms had an unusual feature, a glass wall (frosted) between the restroom and the bedroom. Unusual that if one needs to use the facilities during the night, and they turn on the light in the restroom, the entire room is lit up. Would think there would be some sort of curtain or shade for this

If you are Marriott Member. Note there is no executive lounge, no comp drinks etc, you are comp 1 breakfast for 2: so if you are traveling with family or have multiple rooms does not matter. Breakfast buffet is offered at restaurant next door for $30 per person. Keep in mind and plan accordingly

This hotel has some nice looking parts but could use more real amenities. As my wife said, I would rather have a robe than bar lights. Also I would like AC that works well. That being said the staff was tremendous and responsive (we asked for a fan and it was there in 2 minutes).

The location is good. Easy walk to train staton as well as to the rivers and all the restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel is very good (uniquely Mexican food) and the Margaritas very good.

It is a pleasure for us to read that you not only appreciated the city center location of the hotel but also enjoyed the food and Margaritas at the Mexican restaurant Pacifico. LOCATION
- Very goood location.
- It is a few minutes walk from the Luzern train station and piers, where trains or boats go to different beautiful sights around Luzern.
- It is also very close to the Chapel Bridge and the old town.
- The Lion Monument can be made closer by taking bus #1 (see below).

HOTEL MAIN ENTRANCE
- The hotel main entrance is not on Pilatusstrasse, where the hotel address is. It is on the side street Sempacherstrasse, next to a restaurant.

ROOM DESIGN
- Our room has the toilet and the shower in different room. And there is no wash basin in the toilet.
- The room where the shower is, is rather small. Also, the shower is in a semi-enclosed area without curtain or a door, and therefore, even I purposely turned the shower head facing the wall, water was splashed out of the shower area to the floor! I wish there was at least a shower curtain or it had a bath tub.

HOTEL/ROOM AMENITIES
- Umbella are available for guests to use, and they are to the left of receptionist desk, when you are facing the desk.
- Power outlet converters are also available. We did not use it. If you do use it, make sure you have a power converter, or the outlet converter can also perform power conversion, if your appliances are not native to Switzerland.
- There is a standing computer and printer for guests to use. They are on the first floor, outside of the exercise room.
- In the same area where the computer is, there are also some tables/chairs, a TV, and a coffee machine. There are also different kinds of tea.
- There is a hot water kettle and a coffee machine in the room. Both tea and coffee are of good quality.
- There are slippers in the room.
- In room wifi speed is good.

CREDIT CARD PRE-AUTHORIZATION
- This does not affect our stay, but I am surprise that Renaissance per-authorized $1000 for each room.
- Even the InterContinental in Geneve where we stayed afterwards, has a much lower per-authorization amount.

THE GOOD PEOPLE OF SWITZERLAND
- Thank God we met a lot of nice people in Switzerland, and the weather was much better than forecast before our trip!
- A ticket inspector in Luzern informed us we were on the wrong train. We did not know the train would be split before our final destination.
- A gentleman gave up his seat when we took the cogwheel train down from Mt Rigi to Goldau. He went a step further to lookup the train schedule back to Luzern for us.

TOURIST INFORMATION
- There is a tourist information office on the street/train level. If you are inside the train station and if you are facing the main entrance, it will be on your left hand side, next to the Burger King.

BUS 1
- There is a free "Lucerne Mobility Ticket" for hotel guests for their whole stay. It covers buses and train in the local areas. Ask the hotel receptionist at check in, if he/she does not mention it.
- If you prefer to walk less to the train station or to the old town, take bus #1.
Exit the hotel, turn left, and turn left onto Pilatusstrasse, and you will find the bus stop about 1 block away at Pilatusstrasse and Hirschmattstrasse.
If you are heading to the Lion Monument, take bus #1 and get off at Luzernerhof. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at the Monument.

SIGHTS
- There are lots of good sights in and around Luzern, all reachable by train or a combination of boat and train, and then cogwheel or cable car. A hotel near the train station, where it is also very near the boat dock, is a very good home base to visit sights in or around Luzern.

MT PILATUS
Step 1. Luzern (Train) to Alpnachstad station OR
Luzern landing stage 2 (Boat) to Alpnachstad
Step 2. Alpnachstad (Cogwheel) to Mt Pilatus

MT RIGI
Step 1. Luzern (train) to Vitznau
Step 2. Vitznau (cogwheel) to Rigi Kulm

BRIENZER ROTHORN
Step 1. Luzern (train) to Brienz
This is part of the Golden Pass Line; sit on the right for better views. The scenery is very beautiful!
Step 2. Brienz (train) to Brienzer Rothorn
The view of Lake Brienzer at Brienzer Rothorn is gorgeous!

DAY LIGHT
- In June, there is day light well into 20:00 (8:00pm).

We we so comfortable in the big king bed. Light from courtyard was good and street noise there was none. This standard of room is difficult to find in Europe. Convenient 5 minute walk to train station Lucerne.

Our Superior Room at the Renaissance Hotel was quite and very comfortable, as expected from a hotel in the Marriott group.
The location is excellent, only minutes from the train station, Chapel Bridge and the old town, where there are numerous dining options.
A great base for exploring Lucerne
