Enjoyed a cruise to Alpnachstad from Lucerne and back on an autumn day; it was an ideal way to view the small communities where the boat docked and to experience the relaxation of several hours on the lake. The indoor seating area was comfortable with tables and we appreciated being able to have lunch on board.

If you want to explore the cradle of Switzerland, the great tour with a 115 year old pedal steamer is worth it.
Even as a Swiss I had to Google a few places and consult Wikipedia on the trip. When was the Axenstrasse built (only around 1880)? What is the monolith honouring ( F Schiller)? What is this little village with the factory (Isetlen with its dynamite factory, mine and a forteress)? Explaining all this and the founding of Switzerland in 1291 on the Rütli was keeping us busy on the 5 1/2 hrs tour. There are also a lot of other options, people on the ship told us they just take the trip from Luzern to Flüelen and then continue by train to other places, most over the Gotthard. Happy family time and always great watching the ship's manoeuvres and the steam engine running.

Overpriced, like everything else in Switzerland. You should only go to Switzerland if your parents are millionaires, you are a millionaire, or you are burning your way through your children's inheritance, otherwise you will translate the prices into your own currency and go into cardiac arrest, which will pretty much defeat the purpose of your trip. We signed up for the boat ride on the Internet so it was half price. Basically, you sit outside for the ten minutes you can stand it, probably better in warm sunny weather, and watch the shore go by. Then you go inside and eat and drink for four and a half hours. It was recommended and we didn't know any better.

What a evening/night! We booked the Gala evening for the MS "Unterwalden" two month before the 1st of August (Swiss National Day). Other friends also booked for this tour. The boat was fully booked. We and our friends didn't have a place at the same table. But the catering manager resolved the problem. He arranged one table for all the seven for us together. The tour was fantastic. All the steam boats sailed together in direction Rütli - Brunnen. A great picture. The Swiss National anthem passing the Rütli and the long and magnificent firework in front of Brunnen were attractive. The service superb. We had a good time in a special relaxed atmosphere.

The company is bosth, essential for transport and for pleasure. The ships are beautiful, the service is pleasant. The views incredible. A boat to take even if you have zero reason to do so.
