We stayed in the 'Romantic' apartment for 1 night and then had to be changed to the 'comfort' apartment for the next 5 nights.

The positives:
1. Location in old town is very good and central
2. Both apartments were recently refurbished so they looked like new.
3. The 'comfort apartment was very spacious with lots of windows one can open to a square

The negatives:
1. I asked for an apartment with balcony so I could enjoy a view and be able to leave windows open for fresh air. They don't have a balcony which is fair enough but they gave me an apartment which was freshly painted. There was scaffolding on the outside of the windows as it was being renovated externally. As it was being renovated on the outside it meant that workmen could see/listen in if you left the windows open. I had a massive headache from paint fumes without fresh air. They were full that night so had to tolerate it for the entire night. I couldn't leave windows open overnight as workmen were arriving early in the morning. They should have told me there were going to be renovations and there were not going to be views or able to open windows before I arrived. This was unacceptable-not even a discount was offered. So be careful which apartment you book-ask whether renovation or maintenance work will be undertaken for the apartment . There is no air conditioning in this set of apartments which made the paint fumes even worse.

2. The staff were uncaring. No sincere apologies for having to relocate after unpacking everything. They always looked tired and uninspiring compared to staff at accommodation before and after these apartments-its like they didn't want to be there.

3. I had trouble operating the washing machine in the first 'romantic' apartment as instructions were not in English. Staff were unwilling to assist as they thought because I was moving to the next apartment due to #1 above, I didn't need instructions which is understandable. The washing machine in the comfort apartment was even harder to understand as again instructions were not in English. Staff didn't have a manual and were unwilling to take a look or assist. I had to translate every word on the machine into English and tried every combination possible. I spent half a day trying to get the machine to work. It didn't drain no matter which setting I used. It appears the machine was incorrectly installed (I know as I had the same problem at home with incorrect installation that caused it not to drain)

4. The second apartment 'comfort' was aptly named as it was very spacious. We appreciated the extra space. However there were only 2 hotplates and all the saucepans were really big so to make something small was awkward. The concern here is that when I asked for a smaller saucepan I was told they couldn't do that. Disappointing given the hassles with the washing machine. There also is no microwave in this apartment

5. These are serviced apartments. There is no dishwasher in the 2 apartments. I left out a few mugs and 2 small plates. None got washed......what is the point of getting a serviced apartment if they only make up the bed and change the towels? I can appreciate it if there was a massive amount of washing up but a few cups?? On top of this I found a clause in the handbook that said if you leave the apartment overly untidy/dirty on departure then a significant cleaning fee will be charged. Serviced apartment-they must have a different meaning to what I am used to in other serviced apartments???

6. There is no lift. Whilst they offered to help us with our luggage, this was inconsistently offered to guests depending on who was at the desk. I noticed a number of new arrivals, including petite women, having to struggle up the stairs. Staff didn't even offer to show them which room they had, just the room number. It seemed they didn't care.

7. For the reception you have to go across the square to the hotel part of the complex. There is no phone in the apartment to call them. Therefore, whenever you have a question (eg how to use the washing machine as it is not in English or you need some ice etc) you need to get dressed and walk across the square. I was then told to get the ice myself on the first floor of the hotel. Like I said the staff service is virtually non existent.

8. When I first checked in the reception staff started informing me about where to go for the sights which was appreciated. However when I started asking questions I was virtually dismissed as if a naughty boy in a class room as I needed to let the teacher finish what she was saying. My enthusiasm to learn more was completely stifled. The staff here have an attitude that they are superior, with little enthusiasm about customer service. 'You get what you are given' type of attitude. I am normally a very friendly person who engages with people easily (so I am told by many) however this was impossible with the attitude of staff at this establishment.
