Unusual and inventive menu, attentive friendly service and great location. We particularly liked the pancake roll, which may be a local speciality and the opportunity to eat in the wine cellar is quite unique. We lunched outside on the river twice, and that was very enjoyable. When we dined inside one night, the chance to have a table surrounded by a sea of bottles was quixotic and the chicken pie was magnificent. The wine list is epic and we think Opus have got everything right.

This place has to have one of the best wine lists in Lucerne, with plenty of the classics, including Opus One (by the glass!) and Grange, plus some new world wines to discover. The list is extensive, with wines from around the world and, of course, Swiss. We got excellent recommendations from our jovial waiter and tried a Swiss Pinot noir and a Chilean Carmenere which were both excellent and adapted to the food. In fact, if you want to try something really exceptional and like smooth full bodied reds, go for the 2009 Almaviva produced by the Rothschild family in Chile.
The food was nothing exceptional but made with fresh ingredients and well cooked, from the multicolored tomatoes and burrata to the grilled lamb with couscous. Since there were more tomatoes in my friend's main dish we were offered some fries to complement and help finish the wine.
If you manage to get into the cellar section of the restaurant and like wine, you'll be in hog heaven as you eat and drink surrounded by a multitude of fine vintages from around the world.
All in all a great experience, I'll go back... and this is not the first time there!

We enjoyed our dinner at Opus and only wish the weather cooperated so we could have enjoyed the views outside! The service was average and when we asked for bread, we were told to help ourselves upfront - cutting board with various breads to choose and place in your basket. We were confused as we thought it was part of the salad buffet for $14.50 small plate or $19.50 for a large plate. Wish the waitress would have told us about it before we waited for bread! The buffet would be great for vegetarians or those who prefer a lighter meal! We choose a fish dish served over potatoes with some veggies. Rather pricy for the portion size and the fish still had the skin on it! The spinach and cheese cannelloni were very good (4 small cannelloni for the larger portion) but could have used more sauce. Not a cheap meal!

On a summer day you could eat inside or out. We chose inside in the evening because people could smoke outside. The buffet is extraordinary, and you can make dinner out of that if you want a cold meal. I opted for the chicken and it came with lots of grilled veggies. Good wine and friendly and helpful service.

The restaurant is located next to the River reuss with a beautiful view of the old town and the water tower. You can book a table inside or outside. The meals are mediterranean with added fusion. Fresh and tasty dishes with a good wine selection. Prices are a little hugh but its based to the location next to the river.
