Gabriela and Gerhard (Greg?) and knowledgeable hosts that help with your stay. The hotel is well situated, the rooms are very nice to stay in, the breakfast is very good. Everybody at the hotel wants you to have a great time in Grindelwald. Then there's the mountains....right outside your room. One can't go wrong staying here.

Room tip: Ask for a room with mountain view.

We stayed here for 2 nights, our first in Switzerland. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Rooms are updated, beds are comfortable and the balcony was a nice touch. The people at the front desk were very helpful, and the restaurant food was excellent. Would definitely stay here again. Only downside is that the hotel is close to the road, so you do hear cars going by. However, this makes the location very convenient.

We loved the quaint hotel run by Gabriela and Gary, who are the fourth generation family to run this place. We had a wrap around room looking out to the Eiger mountains which are breath taking. Our hosts helped us with mountain passes and made suggestions of daily hikes. We ate at the hotel for dinner every night. The chef has been with them for 30 years and each dinner was superb. The wine list is plentiful and great selections for the evening menu. This is a great find in the town of Grindelwald and we will return!

Second time at this friendly hotel. Incredible views across to Eiger and Glacier. Very friendly hosts, great rooms and excellent dinner and breakfast. Hotel is on East side of Gridelwald so away from Tourist buses and tour groups at station end

This was our second visit to this hotel. My wife and I stayed here in the summer of 2018, during great weather. It has been many years since we were in Switzerland in the winter, so we decided to go back in early March of this year. But the weather was spring-like, with buds on trees, even up in the snowy nearby village of Wengen. We did find the winter wonderland that we look forward to to seeing, however. We just had to travel to nearby higher altitude villages to do so. Those short trips were taken on the excellent regional train system serving the local area, since we did not rent a car for this trip, for the first time after up to ten visits to Switzerland.

This hotel gets the deservedly highest ratings except for value, where it is rated 4.5 out of 5. I disagree. I would rated it 5 for value. Yes, it is expensive, but this hotel is in very expensive Switzerland, after all. Compared to similar hotels, this one is reasonably priced. It is value, after all, not price that is being rated. The hotel offers everything you could want in a small establishment. There is a dinner option which we took. It costs 40 Swiss francs for a three course dinner, with no additional fee for tax or tip. Again, it is not a bargain, but that is less expensive than the cost of other village restaurants where we went for lunch. But more importantly, the food is excellent. It is gourmet quality. We never had anything less than excellent food.

The family who owns and operates the hotel are wonderful. We were picked up and dropped off at the village train station. All service was tendered with a smile.

I can say nothing at all except to praise the hotel to the highest. It is cozy in a way that can only be found in Switzerland. The family makes some addition or renovation every year to keep the hotel up to date without losing any of its abundant charm. This place is a FIND. We look forward to staying in the years to come.
