What a wonderful family owned hotel! Our stay was outstanding. The restaurant was superb, and they arranged a special fondue dinner menu for our group on our last night. Highly recommend it! Rooms were immaculate and all very individual. Definitely not your run of the mill chain hotel. Reasonably priced also.

OK, so the hotel in question is perhaps in need of a facelift/uplift, but that doesn't detract from the quality of service my wife and I received on our week in Switzerland from 23rd September to 30th September. First and foremost in my book is cleanliness - this hotel didn't disappoint. The rooms were absolutely spotless as were the en suite facilities - not a bit of mould anywhere as we have experienced in the past. As for the dining - a 4 course meal every evening (we were on a package organised by The Swiss Travel Company) and a superb buffet breakfast every morning. If there was anything that you didn't like on the 4 course menu they would offer alternatives without question - not this is what you've paid for, this is what you get. The restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly apart from being super efficient. After our first night we found that the duvets were a bit too warm - "can we get something a bit cooler please" we asked reception - "no problem" was the reply. Our request was carried out immediately. The location of the hotel was excellent, just a 15 minute walk into Interlaken West where all the shops and restaurants can be found. Although the hotel is right next to Interlaken Ost Railway Station, the trains stopped at around 1030/1100 at night and didn't prove a problem at all. I suppose if you had young children with you it could prove a nuisance. Overall, I would say that this is probably one of the best hotels that we have stayed in and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

On the plus side, this hotel is less than 100 yards from the train station so you don't need a taxi. The staff is so kind and helpful. They gave great advice and happily printed out the train schedules for us.
The breakfast is in a nice room overlooking the river. The food choices were adequate but if they ran out of eggs or croissants then you were out of luck. Nothing was replenished. The dinner we had there was excellent. Our bathroom was large and clean.
Now the bad news. Our room was small and very dark. The furnishings were downright creepy. The lights were ancient and dim. The bedside lamps were tiny and looked like they were from the 1940's or older. The wooden floor slanted badly. You could hear anyone walking down the wood hall. The dark carpet was stained. The bed linens were scratchy. The pillows (if you could call them a pillow at all) collapsed flat when you laid on them. There were no extra pillows or a blanket. The safe was located on the highest shelf in an ancient cabinet. It was turned sideways making it almost impossible to access unless you were very tall.
The city of Interlaken was wonderful to explore but I would never ever stay in this two star hotel again!!! I would give it one star but I added a star for the great staff.

Room tip: Stay at a nice hotel - not here!

The hotel is so convenient for the station and buses allowing you to get around Switzerland easily. The staff are very friendly and food is excellent particularly the evening meals and the rooms are a good size and well furnished. Not that pricey when you consider what you are getting. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: If you want a quiet room go for the river side. If you are a train enthusiast go for the station side, a bit more noise.

This was the second hotel on a three stop holiday in Switzerland. Again a hotel chosen for us by our holiday company. The train station is within 5 mins slow walk of the hotel.

The staff were again very helpful. Our room was at the back of the hotel and overlooking the river Aare, with the paddle steamer parked outside the window, fantastic.

The room was north facing and a little dark, but really really tidy, very well furnished and really clean and spacious. A special room indeed

The restaurant was a typical hotel affair. The difference was that it's literally beside the river. Very clean with helpful staff. The food was scrumptious. As we were half board we had a set menu with a choice to change anything we didn't like. To me a slight downside.

Plenty of continental choice type breakfast foods and tea coffee and fruit juices.

All in all this hotel is very well located for most amenities and activities, it's clean tidy and comfortable. If you're looking for somewhere in mid Switzerland The Hotel Du Lac in Interlaken Ost. We have already planned to go back next year and will be contact ting the Du Lac soon to book

Room tip: Get a back room. They are smaller than the others, but none the less very comfortable
