I booked a room in this hotel a a stop coming back from a road trip to Italy. I did not do a lot of research and the room was not expensive so I did not hesitate. I was pleasantly surprised. The lady at the reception was very friendly and showed us around. The swimming pool was heated and a nice addition to the hotel. So was the spa and fitness room. Our room (which was a suite, but hence the name of the hotel) had a lovely view over the lake. We ate at the Japanese restaurant and albeit a little expensive it was magnificent. The Cuban bar was also great to sit. Cocktails were good and we even tried a Cuban cigar whilst we were there. Breakfast was superb with live cooking for your eggs and pancakes. This hotel is a great place to relax. If the occasion arrises that I'm back at Lugano I'll be sure to visit this hotel again.

We went for the 2 bedroom penthouse suite with unobstructed views of the mountains/lake and Lugano. It was a great choice. The apartment was very clean, and non-allergenic (given that it has enough carpets and window drapes. TV with lots of channels, outdoor terrace overlooking straight at the city/lake/mountains; probably the best view of Lugano one can get. True, there are some tower cranes not too far, but the view from our suite still remained great. We were above the crane which was to the left for us. Staff was helpful, cordial, welcoming. Breakfast was just ok, would have expected more ham/salami choices as well more cheese choices for a hotel of this rank, but still good choices for what they had. The omlette station though was dismal-we got scrambled eggs only once, since they tasted bad-not sure if they were real eggs or egg beaters... Parking is free and easy right outside; too far to walk to Lugano, so a car was a great thing to have. Sauna was just right, though they stop heating it aafter 8pm (it closes at 9pm), so it's not too hot after 8pm.
Would definitely choose to stay here again if were to be back in Lugano. The views and the comfort of the penthouse suite was great. Nice touch to have a complimentary proseco wine and a box of amaretti as well.

Room Tip: get the 2 bedroom penthouse suite for the best views and comfort-top floor, complete privacy

Parco Paradiso offers shuttle service to the train station but the earliest departure is 9:30 AM. As our train was leaving at 9:26, we asked for an earlier departure time. The hotel absoluely refused saying that it was their rule. After much insistence, the hotel offered us 4 franc to take the bus which we refused.

I do not recommend this hotel.

We were really looking forward to our stay in the SuitenHotel given what we could see from the pictures on the website. Our visit to the hotel was part of a summer vacation in Switzerland and at £333 for one night in August, this was by far the most expensive hotel of our 2 week visit. Upon arrival we noticed how full the car park was and how other quests had already started parking their vehicles along one side of the rather steep drive. The Reception staff were courteous and when we got into our room, we were pleased with how spacious the room was (which is why I have given this an average rating rather than something less). On looking out on the balcony, however, we discovered that we only had one chair (we needed two to have our meal at the table provided) and two sun loungers, one of which had broken slats. The balcony looked directly out on to a crane which was some 50 metres from the hotel one one side and the flat roofs of other rooms in the hotel on the other side and was a couple of hundred feet above the main rail line, with frequent noise from trains. The balcony was a featureless concrete construction with signs of mould in places. The shrubbery in the 'window boxes' around the balcony was mainly brown and dead. As mentioned, the apartment itself was spacious and clean but we suspected that it was let out on a longer term basis out of season as there was a row of wardrobe doors, which we could not open, but which appeared to have a sink and other amenities (cooking?) behind them. The bathroom of the apartment was again clean but in need of a refurbishment.

Finally, we'd have loved to see the pool which was so beautifully lit on the website but discovered that this closed at 6pm! Fat chance of seeing the lights in operation then!

All in all, we did not feel that this hotel offered good value for money and wished we had researched what was on offer a little better.

We stayed here for 3 nights half board in August with 2 teenage sons. The breakfast buffet was excellent, especially the freshly cooked hot options including pancakes and omelettes. Dinner was also very good. Unfortunately the gym was closed but we used the pool which was very nice.
