We stopped for lunch on the way down from the mountain. From the Fury station it is a short walk down to the restaurant. We had the mushroom soup with puff pastry, the rosti with chanterelles and a tasty salad. For dessert the black cerry ice cream over chesnut was a delight. We so enjoyed our meal.

Owned by a descendant of the the Taugwalder family, the first climbers up the matterhorn back in the 1850's, they certeinly did not loose the touch to welcome guests. If you walk down from Fury to Zermatt (or ski down in winter), make sure to stop at this lovely mountain restaurant. It has everything for the tired hiker, a cosy inside Gaststube, a nice outside area and e separate area with sun chairs and lounges to relax.
Visiting in September, I had seasonal mushrooms (Pfifferlinge) on a parcel of puff pastry, the lightest and most delicious I ever had. Make sure you also try their desserts and ask for an apricotine - that's the local Schnapps made out of apricots from the Valais.
The featured photo (the old chalet with the flower post) is actually the toilet, which I find quite funny. Overall the place is great to relax for an hour or two, and the friendly service makes you feel at home immediately. I will make sure to visit this place everytime I holiday in Zermatt from now on, and so should you.

The team at Blatten did a fantastic hosting a lunch for 20+ people for my husband's birthday. Food and service was wonderful and the location was just amazing, the beautiful hanging baskets and sunny terrace were at their best. We had excellent röstii, beef and local wines, just as well we walked up via Zmutt! A really lovely experience. Thank you!

There's only one way to get here and back from here and that's on foot. It is worth the walk. The service and food are exemplary. You can walk up from Zermatt or down from Furi and take I the gorge either way. Well worth a visit. We went twice!!

Very good typical place . Excellent food and wines. Especially recommend lamb with roesti. Nice terrace. Must visit . Very good for after ski dinner or lunch .
