“Great views of the Matterhorn”
Reviewed 17 September 2011

The hotel was located within easy reach of the train station via a short walk to a tunnel then a lift. The staff were friendly and informative. The hotel offered great views of the Matterhorn and was in a good location within easy reach of the town’s amenities.

The hotel room was a bit dated with a shower only bathroom. The bed was comfortable.

The breakfast was good with an excellent cheese selection and it could be taken on the terrace with excellent views of the Matterhorn.

The room was expensive for what you got but that’s Switzerland!

Traveller beware:May and October are months that are used by the locals to repair renovate and build the infrastucture. Some of the lifts are closed and also most of the hotels. Our hotel was open and located on the side of a hill. The view of the Matterhorn from our room was suberb. The room was spacious and the bathroom had all the modern amenities. There is no restaurant but a buffet breakfast is offered.Service was friendly

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a direct view of the Matterhorn

This is a pleasant hotel with average rooms and a nice spa area. Excellent proximity to the Sunnegge Express and the ski bus stop. Easy walk into town via the tunnel. All-in-all a nice family hotel

Room Tip: ask for the ski rental discount

This is our 6th year and we wouldn't go anywhere else in Zermatt. You can ski almost to the hotel, snow permitting. The lift takes you to the Sunnegga funicular. You can chose a room with a view to the Matterhorn which is breathtaking. Half-board is wonderful. Breakfast consists of a varied buffet. Evening meals include 4 courses and if you stay Wednesday you usually have a Raclette & Sunday is Fondue Chinoise; both traditional Swiss meals. We liked all the hotel staff but I must mention Miguel who is very bubbly and Paulo who mixes a good cocktail. Angelina new to us but very attentive. A special mention for Isabelle who books us in every year and makes us feel like part of the family. Skiing down to the hotel, a swim and Jaccuzzi followed by a rest, then down to the wonderful bar with Cow hide seats for a game of Yahtzee & a cocktail and dinner & back to bed with a view of the Matterhorn - what could be nicer? No cars and pure mountain air, returning home with good healthy lungs for one, and wonderful memories!

We stayed at this hotel for a week's skiing holiday. We booked a "family appartment" which comprised two bedrooms, a bathroom with toilet, an extra loo with washbasin, a large common area including a table with seats, and a kitchen. I thought in general that the prices in Zermatt compared very favourably with French resort prices for a comparable resort (eg the 3 Valleys) and the combination we booked in particular. The room was simply furnished but comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar was cosy and welcoming, prices were reasonable and there seemed to be a number of visitors who worked in the town. In the restaurant it felt more like a four-star hotel. SErvice was good but but friendly. There is no choice of main meal in the evening, but you can request something else if you don't facy what's on offer - our children did this once or twice, and it was not a problem.

I omly used the swimming pool once, it was small but large enough to swim in and just the right temperature (not too hot, not too cold).

The hotel is situated above the centre of town, so is quiet, but it is quick to get into town and to the Sunegga ski lift - you go across the road to the neighbouring hotel, down iin their lift, then through a tunnel and you come out by the river.

In summary, we felt we had a good deal, the comfort was good, and it was conveniently located.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel from 21st to 28th August 2010 and would happily recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Zermatt. All of the staff were excellent. The location was ideal, the hotel was very clean and the food was always very good.

Excellent location with the help of the tunnel and lift. 5 minute walk to the interesting town of Zermatt and spectacular Matterhorn views. Most welcoming and friendly staff and delicious food served in pretty dining room. Could not fault anything.
