This hotel really played on the Swiss reputation - clean and efficient. The room was rather large and very clean, though the layout was a little odd. You basically walk into your bathroom when entering the room. It was odd but did not hinder the experience whatsoever. The bed was quite comfortable.
Decor wise, I thought of a cabin - green carpet, animal printed wall paper, animal hide, etc. While it was startling at first, you forget about it very quickly.
I did not try the breakfast at the hotel but instead picked up food elsewhere. There's some cute cafes nearby.
When walking to the hotel, I passed a rated R movie theatre which at first made me believe I was in a scuzzy neighbourhood by the train station. However, it went from questionable to charming in a matter of steps. The hotel is actually very well located, plenty of grocery stores nearby, the train station within 5 minute walk, and plenty of restaurants around.
There is a very popular restaurant basically right next door - the food is good though the service a tad snobbish. The hotel staff was helpful enough - nothing good nor bad stood out.
It's a relatively long walk to the city center, but that is mainly because you are walking up hill and it can get a bit steep at times. You definitely do not need to worry about eating healthy when walking around...This hotel really played on the Swiss reputation - clean and efficient. You definitely do not need to worry about eating healthy when walking around Lausanne, its up and down hills constantly. You can take transportation to relieve your legs but the walking, while a little exhausting, is very enjoyable.More
