If you are looking for a hip boutique hotel in Old Town, this is the place. The location is perfect. It is just up the street from the Bahnhofstrasse (main shopping district), short distance to the Zurich HB train stop, and easy access to all the sights. We liked walking across the street to the Lindenhof where there is a great view of the city, swings for kids, and a large chess game area.

We stayed in a junior suite on one of the top floors. There was plenty of space for sleeping and relaxing with a large bed for two on the first floor, and stairs to a loft with a third bed. This is nice room for families or groups with multiple travelers. (Note-The hotel offers an extra bed if you need one at an extra cost.). The room was modern and unique, with exposed wooden beams, and modern furnishings.

The service at the hotel was ***** as you would expect. The concierge can help you with any of your travel needs. The service and the food at the breakfast (poached eggs, and Belgian waffles) was outstanding and was included in our room price. It's the little touches that separate this hotel from other hotels like the chocolate bunnies in the room for Easter, and complimentary drinks in the refrigerator.

Enjoy!

We had our second stay at the Widder back in December. As with our first, we very much enjoyed this stay.

The hotel is perfectly located - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.

The included breakfast is fabulous - make sure you get the Rosti!!

Because we were there during the holiday season we were able to try the Igloo Restaurant which was fun - expensive, but fun.

My only recommendation relates to room assignment. We were given a large room that it turns out was directly over the entrance/exit to the bar of the hotel. It wasn't a problem initially but after a couple of days things picked up down there and we ended up spending much of the nights listening to the door clunking open and closed - I got virtually no sleep. Unfortunately the hotel had no other rooms initially but the Loft Suite then was then available and we paid to move there.

So assess your room's location quickly to make sure it will be ok. I would have preferred a much smaller room to the noisy one we were given.

Unfortunately the hotel was less than accommodating and we did have to pay to upgrade rooms.

Having said all that, the Loft was AMAZING! one of our favorite rooms ever. It is definitely unique with an upstairs living area and small terrace. Bedroom and bath is downstairs. It was amazing.

Notwithstanding the issues, we enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not above the bar entrance! Our bedroom was and it was a problem.

One of the best hotel in Zurich. Very elegant. Very in-room design which impressed you very much. On the other hand, the room is very comfortable. The room staff are all very friendly, very nice and very helpful. We have been offered a very nice room on the 5th floor. The room decor is pretty but comfortable on the other hand. Breakfast was good and staffs in restaurant are all very nice and helpful. You are feeling that you are really seriously taken care of by the hotel

Perhaps the reviews gave me overly high expectations. The check-in process was confused. I think they were training new staff. We were upgraded to a suite, I would have preferred the junior suite we had booked. The sitting room had beautiful wood paneling but the bedroom was cramped and bathroom disappointing. The bed was two singles pushed together allowing for a gap in the middle. My biggest complaint is that the concierge's insistence we use the hotel car almost caused us to miss our flight. The night prior we arranged for a car at a specified time. It was not available as booked so we asked for a taxi. The concierge kept insisting that the hotel car would arrive soon. Eventually we went to the street and found ourselves a taxi and rushed to the airport.

This is a nice discreet hotel in old town. It is more of an attendee apartment with 49 rooms, a nice gym, small staff that is polite, but very average. I am told it is owned by UBS. The reviews - and there are many - that extoll the amazing attributes of this hotel and incredible service - are somewhat suspect extrapolating from my experience. There is nothing that stands out. The hotel has a good location, the rooms are peaceful, and everyone is seemingly nice. The beds are not good. Shower is horrible in every respect - hard to get into, does not drain well, poor pressure, etc... the only thing is that there was hot water. Computer in business center does not work nor does the printer. There is no interaction with staff, and nothing is elegant. It is basically a 3 star boutique hotel. There is no spa but a nice gym. Breakfast is horrible. The restaurant looks like an old school Herman diner or a nice bathroom. I don’t get it. I am sorry.
