My second visit to this place. And definitely not last visit. Somebody can call it "pricey", but, what can you expect in a classy Zurich restaurant?

Food: Steak tartar, in my humble opinion, was little bit overloaded with flavors: meat itself, caponata, leeks etc. Tasty, but...
Fish choice for main course (octopus with cod) was brilliant.

Service: Unexpectedly (We are in Switzerland, buddy) emotional maitre, describing today's menu as a poet would do. Bright and beautiful smile of young waitress... Friendly and professional. Top class.

Bottom line: abt. 600 EUR for three persons with bottle of good red and half bottle of Sauternes. Worth to visit, IMHO.

Once more a great evening at Drei Stuben. This time in the lovely garden...........
Honestly, I shouldn't right it here, as to much of excellent feedback would it make even more difficult to get a seet in 'Drei Stuben'. However, I do have to make the statement, Marco is an excellent host and his crew is taking care of you the entire evening in professional and super friendly mood.
Food creations are exiting and there is even no need to a have a look a the menue. The day recommendendation will always be an experience.
So, if you find the time and you're in a mood for a lovely dinner in Zurich, then Drei Stuben will be the spot to go........... !
No doubt.

This was our first time in this restaurant. Upon our arrival there was a friendly welcome by the service staff and we were guided to our table. Unfortunately, we were placed in a dark place of the restaurant at a pretty small table. Even before taking a look at the menu and ordering, we were served an amuse-bouche. Since my friend is vegetarian, they immediately changed it and served an alternative amuse-bouche (actually, they could have asked before...). Only after that, we received the menu and were able to order. For starters I had variations of foie gras. It was good. My main course was the Canadian beef which was really outstanding and therefore was my highlight of that evening. Since I was not quite happy with our table, I talked to the headwaiter and he showed to be very understanding. Thus, we were offered our desserts which were also very delicious. I would like to point out the highly endeavored and friendly service. From my point of view regarding the quality and presentation of the dishes, the prices are reasonable. In all, we passed a nice evening at this restaurant. Actually, I would like to give 3.5 points... If there wasn't the unpleasant table that we received, it would be 4 points. Next time when we go to Drei Stuben, we will for sure ask for the table with the corner seats.

Drei Stuben is situated in the heart of Zurich, about 10 mins from ZRH mainstation by foot. The restaurant is in an old 19th century building and the interior is all wood-plated and gives you a cosy feeling. It reminded us a bit of an old "Fondue Stube", yet without the omnipresent smell of cheese. All in all, the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed, not too pretentious dinner.

Before being handed the menu card, we received an amuse bouche from the kitchen. While such appetizers usually give you a small welcome, this one came with a big "helloooo". The beef tartar wantan paired with a curry-vegetable pannacotta was really good, but unexpectedly stuffy. Nonetheless, we enjoyed every bit of it.

For starters, we went for the burrata (an alternative form of mozzarella filled with cream) on green asparagus and red rocket salad (ruccola). Every ingredient was perfectly prepared; the asparagus was firm, yet not tough, and the burrata melted deliciously with the house-made pesto.

As a main course, we chose meatloaf with mashed potatoes and the veal filet with polenta and wild garlic pesto. Both dishes seemed regular in size, but stuffed us so much that we could not go for a dessert afterwards. In any case, again the food was very good. The veal filet was cooked to the point, the polenta crispy on the outside and juicy at the centre. Altogether, every dish was as if grandma prepared an exquisite traditional Swiss meal with some "special" additions.

The services was impeccable: friendly, quick and attentive.

However, the one downside of the evening were the prices. The bill was ok, but a tad too high for a "simple" traditional Swiss dinner. For instance, it is not enough to call the veal filet "Toggenburger" veal filet, to make it appear special. Any piece of meat has an origin, that does not necessarily make it premium beef. Likewise, a playful addition of olive oil pearls in the starters and bit of pesto foam does in our opinion not fully justify the premium they charge.

In summary, we had a lovely evening and enjoyed some great food, but we would either expect "something more" (not in terms of portions) or prices closer to the regular range for Swiss traditional food. Certainly not an easy thing considering cost of rent, personnel, etc., but other restaurants do manage it too.

I came eating to drei stuben full of expectations, especially after waiting long time before finding a table during the weekend and then I was really shocked by the quality/price rate. This is the typical place where the owner thinks having got a Michelin fork justifies the prices despite of the real quality of the food and of the service. As we arrived we noticed immediately the digits were ridiculously high even for Zürich, but expecting an exceptional quality we didn't care too much. Apart from waiting around 25 mins before being able to order, the dinner started well: a micro duck portion offered before the starter and very small but incredibly tasty tuna and bull as proper starters. The italian wine Carignano from Sardinia was also excellent. Then it was just a disappointment after the other. The main courses (I took the Swiss filet) wasn't anything special and definitely too few. The roesti was over salted and when we informed the waitress about it, she simply said she was sorry but it wasn't changed. The men served before the women and the dirty forks not changed (in a Michelin fork restaurant THIS counts) and in the end, big surprise we found two wine bottles on the bill instead of one (carignano and carmignano 89 chf more). Quick excuses, money back and nothing more, not even the owner coming. Worst Michelin experience ever, I wonder how they got this recognition..
