Big hostel in outskirts of Amsterdam. Close to metro, nice family rooms. Nice staff! Good value for the money! The kids loved the place. Just by campus area, with supermarket and restaurants close by. Good indoor parking.

In general myself and my friend had a great time staying here, however there were a few issues, I will list these below 'cons' below.

PROS:

- A very quick walk to the metro (10-15 mins) and around a 20 minute journey into the centre.
- Around 20 minutes away from the airport (cost us 40 euros each way).
- All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the bar staff.
- The hotel restaurant, 'The Dude' was very nice and a very reasonable price - I would definitely recommend.
- Its a nice place to chill out, with a lot of seating near the bar and also closer to reception.
- Our double twin room was a great size and really good value for money.

CONS:

- We were quite annoyed that we weren't allowed an extra pillow, and the reasons given for this didn't really make sense. If we had been given decent pillows each in the first place this wouldn't have been a problem - the one pillow allocated were very poor quality and effected our stay due to poor sleep.
- We could't open the window in our room which meant the room got very dusty and hot.
- We had no one clean our rooms for the five days we stayed, which to be honest wasn't that great considering the price we paid to stay here.
- Our room was right next to the lifts so it was very noisy at all hours of the night with people coming and going, as well as the loud music from downstairs.
- The drinks at the bar were quite expensive in comparison to inner city prices.
- The walk to the metro does't feel very safe, especially later on into the day - definitely do not do it alone.

Would I stay here again? Yes. Although there were several cons, we really did enjoy our stay and the hotel is a great place to stay.

Hi there,
thank you very much for your review. I would like to start by apologizing to you because you are allowed to have extra pillows if necessary so we will make sure everyone has this information so that it doesn't happen again. About the cleaning, it is hotel policy that as long as the room is occupied housekeeping only takes the trash out and cleans the bathrooms a little bit, only when you check out that the rooms is completely cleaned. About the location, i don't know what metro taking you were going to but the Diemen Zuid station is safe, the campus has 24h security and as a girl that has to walk alone at night and at early hours in the morning i can tell you that i never had any problems ;)

Catarina

This is a hostel so one shouldn't expect luxury, but I've seen worse. The rooms (8 people, the cheapest) are spacious, clean and very well lit. Moreover, it's a great way to meet new people. Lockers are provided and you can buy locks at the reception, but even with the locks, the lockers can be opened so don't bother. The rooms are safe. No one tried to steal my things in two days. The people at the reception are efficient and friendly. The bar area is cool and chill, you can easily join groups who are there for a chat and a drink. The atmosphere is cozy and very open. Drinks are cheap. Also, the hostel is located within walking distance from the station and is 10 minutes from the city centre, which is very practical!

In general a cheap Hostel, (you get what you pay for), I have had much better experiences for the same or less money in other places.

There should be a warning on the booking page whenever there is an event in which techno will be played loud untill 2 in the morning. As far as i am concern hostels are places to sleep. You really do not expect a techno party in the hostels lobby to disturb your sleep.

Away from that fact, The way to treat a guest is far more important: You cannot tell a guest that the unexpected party will be over at 12:00, wait for him to come at 01:30 to ask what is going on, and send him to speak to the dj himself. All of this only for the DJ to rudely answer that the party ends at 2 am, as loud as it has to be and no matter if people dances or not.

The party is actually not a big deal but treating guests in a transparent and respectfull way is vey important specially when they have reasons to be complaining.

Hi Sebastien,

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We try our best to keep our prices as low as possible for guests and are one of the cheapest places in Amsterdam.

We're very sorry for the noise - we do have posters up around the hostel advertising our weekly social events for guests which include DJ sets on Fridays and Saturdays. However when a guest complains we do generally ask the DJ to turn the music down; our sincerest apologies that this did not happen when you complained, will we follow up and ensure all members of staff are aware of this.

Guest satisfaction is very important to us here at Via so we will aim to be more transparent and respectful in the future.
All the best,
Caolan

Very modern building, in the outside area of amsterdam.
I liked for me was taking bicicles every time going to amsterdam central area. but you could also take the metro. Honestly for me as i was saying, the best and simpele way was renting there bikes and parking somewhere close to Amsterdam Dam.
The hostal has a kitchen. i recommend to go have your breakfast before 8 or after 10am. at lunch time is free, but at dnner could be quite busy as well.
Laundry available for 2 euros each machine. and you can but soap and detergent for 5euros.
There is a mini market close by the campus. and it has all. if you want to make your stay in Amsterdam cheap, i definetly recommend to go buy your food in there. In my case cook something simple, as Salad and Tuna can is the easist way to do it.
I was lucky ot have good roomates.
I loved the cinema is int he same place.
Internet is very good
Definetly cant complain about it,
I think there could be cheaper options in Amsterdam. probably the hotel for all other complients could be wel priced, but fort the distance, i think it could be cheaper.

Room tip: There could be anyone
