An absolute must visit when in Amsterdam. We bought tickets online the day before and there were no queues to get in the museum. It was Easter Monday afternoon and the museum was busy but nevertheless we were able to enjoy all the master pieces on display. We were going to rent the Audio Tour but one of the staff told us that we could download the same audio tours on the Rijksmuseum app, great tip. We did the highlights tour which was great and informative without going into technical details of the paintings as some audio tours do. The Rijksmuseum was closed for 10 years but the New and Improved museum is spectacular.

We enjoyed our stay in this large museum in Amsterdam. It is located in an old refurbished building which was beautiful in itself. They were many exhibits that covered many of the famous European painters and sculptors. The museum is large and there is a great deal to cover so allow adequate time to see everything. They do provide detail maps of the museum so if you are on a tight schedule, you can just hit the "highlights".

...but we will never know for sure. 95% of the visitors are doing selfies or pictures of EVERY SINGLE thing in the museum. Impossible to enjoy the visit, and actually appreciate the art works. Forbidding pictures would be a great idea...

Overall very disappointing experience, in spite of the chef d’œuvres in the museum. Audioguide is not worth it - the app would do just fine.

We spent a couple of hours here and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits. Would not hesitate in recommending a visit to friends.
