Lovely square beautiful buildings. If the sun is out it is worth taking a little time to appreciate the architecture, but watch out for the trams.

Very busy square that is full of history. I went on a walking tour that passed through here and I would highly recommend that to learn all the interesting history of the square

Dam Square is a busy square in the heart of Amsterdam with the Royal Palace (old town hall) next to Madam Tussaud and it has lots of interesting history - an old weigh place, public hanging place and where the first river was damed-re Dam Square

The Square teams with everyone. There various hotels, museums, palaces, banks, shops and shopping malls, and department stores, not to mention bars, restaurants, pizza places and souvenir shops. From the square in walking distance is the Red Light District, more up scale shops, The Anne Frank House (get tickets from the web sight far in advance or you won't get in), Try to stay in a hotel on or near the square, enjoy.

We seemed to either end up at Dam Sqaue or stat there every evening. It is a good focus for getting your bearings and very central. Lots of bars and resutratns around this area. The red light district is just off the square but done worry - it is not as sleazy as I thought it would be - mind you we didn't go into any of the sex shows !!!!
