We stayed in Mirjam and Iwan's comfortable flat for 5 nights. It was an excellent base camp for accessing Amsterdam - close to major transportation hubs, and walking distance to the museum complex and many restaurants and shops. The large living area has a king bed, a table and chairs for dining or desk work, and two leather chairs in a corner seating area. The kitchen is outfitted with a gas cooktop, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. It worked well for our needs. The main room opens onto a large interior courtyard via floor to ceiling french doors that lead to a large balcony. The area is extremely quiet despite being in the heart of the city. Three grocery stores are close by. The owners put a lot of thought in to outfitting the space with everything you would need and then some. We would love to stay here again, and certainly recommend it. The only caveat is the classic and steep Amsterdam staircase that might be challenging for some. Otherwise, it is a gem!!!
Would 100% recommend. Apartment suited us perfectly, was in a great location and had everything we needed. Loved the outside balcony.
We especially liked exploring the local area and shopping at the local supermarket’s, it was fun plus we saved money ! Iwan and Laila where helpful and very welcoming. Had an amazing stay in Amsterdam.
Location couldn't have been better. You can walk everywhere but once you get back it's like an oasis of quiet. Cozy, clean, with a great little terrace that's like another room.
Found a wonderful Italian restaurant around the corner that we went to twice, it was so good.
Great location just off the upper-canal ring; 5 minute walk to Rijks and Van Gogh museums; 5-15 minute walks to other major points of interest; nice quiet neighborhood setting with convenient grocery and dining options. The apartment is well equipped and furnished, with most genial and helpful hosts. Yes, as advertised, the stairs are typical Amsterdam, somewhat narrow and straight-up, but you are staying in a domestic residence in the city and not at some impersonal hotel-like space.
We stayed at the Urban Tulip for 3 nights at the end of May. I absolutely can't fault this apartment - location is fantastic, amidst lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, Foodhallen (which I can recommend for dinner), with most sights in walking distance. The apartment itself is equipped with everything you need, and if anything is missing, pop downstairs and ask the owners, who are super helpful. There's a guide in the apartment with lots of helpful tips for sightseeing, restaurants, etc and multiple maps to take with you during the day. They also have Lonely Planet Guides and other books about Netherlands/Amsterdam, if you're staying a bit longer or want to venture out further. They even do your washing, which we found extremely helpful, as we had been travelling for a while. In terms of other recommendations, we really enjoyed the Heineken experience, a one hour canal cruise with Lovers, spending the afternoon in Vondelpark chilling out and walking through the Red Light District.
My husband and I stayed here for 12 days and liked everything about the place and it's hosts. The neighborhood was charming, quiet and had everything one would need within walking distance. The hosts were never intrusive, respected our privacy but were always available if we had a question or needed something. We could have happily stayed longer!
