We had a comfortable and relaxing 4 nights at the villa Kuijper. The apartment is very well laid out, with large bright an stylish living area leading onto a new well appointed kitchen with massive dining table. The whole place had a boutique hotel feel to it, rather than a rental apartment mostly due to the fresh modern decor (against some really stunning original features of the old building) and the quality fixtures and fittings which included a fantastic cooker, high quality bed linen and towels, lovely showers and a general fresh quality feel to the place. It had two bathrooms upstairs, each with a large brand new shower enclosure and one with a toilet, there was also a toilet downstairs. we found this to be quite a useful set up for group living. The place was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable, we were able to easily regulate the heating ourselves via a little wall thermostat which meant we could stay comfy and cosy despite the snow outside. The location of the apartment is fantastic, you can get a tram into the centre right outside and it has you there in literally ten minutes, however in the neighbourhood around are trendy bars and nice places to eat (the tapas bar on the next corner WOW), and not least of all the cafe bar below. We enjoyed having the cafe below us as it was so handy to pop in for breakfast or a coffee or a last drink at night, this would be perfect for people who are not keen to cook or spend much time in the apartment as you could basically not do any self catering and be more bed and breakfast. The coffees were brilliant and the food was really good, especially the burgers, toasties and stonebaked pizza!!! The drawback of having a tram and a bar so close to hand is of course the noise, it was quite noisy at times, the first night i was disturbed by it but as our trip went on it didn't bother me as much. Others in the party weren't bothered at all, but it is something to take into consideration if this sort of thing is an issue for you and you like quiet surroundings. Our three year old slept 14 hours straight every night and wasnt woken with it once, there was a brilliant sturdy fold down bed in the main room, making it the perfect family room, this bed could easily have accommodated an adult. Similarly those in the back room didnt hear anything, but the front rooms were quite noisy with tram and bar and it took me a night or two to get used to it. I dont know if this is just what you have to expect when you want to be close to the tram. The only other small issues were the stairs to enter the flat are quite steep, i did notice this in several other places we visited so it must be fairly common and we managed fine, but its something to bear in mind and finally it could maybe benefit from another sofa as there is only one and two tub chairs and the living area is so big another sofa would have been handy!!! The owner was great, very helpful indeed, left us wine as a welcome and they even arranged transfers to and from the airport which saved us so much hassle. All in all we loved the place, the noise issue was a bit of a shame but the trade off was the location and the cleanliness and quality of the place, things high quality linen and soft fluffy towels free wifi with the flexibility of an apartment meant it was worth it for me.
