I landed upon "La Place" after I met an Aussie at the hostel I was staying at. He visits Amsterdam on a regular basis, and claims he ALWAYS stops here at least once.
This is one of the best discoveries I had while in Amsterdam, and i will be sure to return!
It is difficult to spot from the street, and seems to be located within the V&D, one of the Netherlands largest department stores. When you enter the first thing you do is grab a tray and start wandering around the different food stations. They have a grill with mixed meats, giant pots filled with homemade soups, a sandwhich bar, a pizza oven with made-to-order pizza, dessert station, a salad bar......The list goes on and on.
All prices are clearly marked, and you just go around filling up your tray until you have everything you want. Then you hop in line, and pay for it all cafeteria style. Prices are cheap!!! especially for the quality of the food delivered. The place is absolutely packed with Dutch, but there are plenty of places to sit at.
Once you find "La Place" you will be tempted to come back every afternoon
note, not sure if the tripadvisor address is correct. Look up location via internet
