We very much enjoyed our stay in Heemstede and loved cycling to and from the beautiful beaches and country parks around there. The house is well equipped and nicely presented and it was a good size for 5 of us. The only minor negative point for us was the distance we had to bus / train it each day in order to get around. It all adds up to make it very expensive, however if you just want to potter around that area you can hire some great bikes over a few days from nearby Haarlem. I wish I could have cycled most of the week! That said, the beaches are fantastic too and Amsterdam is not far on the train. We were so lucky with the weather!
We were sent a video of the house facilities by the owner Paul even before we arrived to a warm welcome by him. The house is so very comfortable and well furnished that it was a pleasure to return to after a tiring day out. My wife and children made use of the bikes on the first day to ride into Haarlem.(I had an injured shoulder so unfortunately was unable to ride). However the bus service into Haarlem (and from / to Amsterdam Airport) is regular and quick.
We really enjoyed the stay in Paul's house (my 3 children, my husband and me). We found everything we needed in the house and even bikes. The place is really good, calm and convenient. Paul and his son were very kind and supportive. Thank you a lot!
Paul the owner was an exceptional host, gave us a bottle of Rose wine on arrival, also great advice on what to do in the area. House was very clean with comfy beds, in a quiet area. Local shops & restraunts were near by. We were a bit out of Haarlem, but didn't matter as good regular bus routes, we also made use of the bikes. Only 20 minute cycle along the canal.
Perfectly positioned with free use of good bikes shops 5 minutes rail station 10 minutes well equipped house clean and comfortable cycle paths everywhere two weeks of bliss without a car Paul the host speaks excellent English and is only a phone call away
