Owner description: The Mauritshuis is home to the very best of Dutch Golden Age painting. The compact, yet world-renowned collection, is situated in the heart of The Hague, right next to the government centre. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate rooms of this seventeenth-century monument.

“Interesting but poor...”

The visit we had was good but I believe the collection is rather limited compared to what I was expecting. Nevertheless a must-visit when staying in The Hague.

“What a gem of a place.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012 via mobile

We visited this little palace that houses the Royal Collection of paintings. Vermeer's 2 most famous paintings, The View of Delft and The Girl with the Pearl Earring are on display along with countless Rembrandts, Van Dyks, Rubens. The building itself is lovely and very easy to get around. The museum closes on the 2nd of April for refurbishment until mid 2014, but there will be a boutique collection on display at the Gemeentemuseum during that time.

“Worth a trip to The Hague alone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

The Mauritshuis may very well be one of the most underrated museums in all of Europe. It has a phenomenal collection of Dutch Golden Age masters, including Vermeer's two most famous works (The Girl with the Pearl Earring and A View of Delft) along with works by Rembrandt and others. It is centrally located in The Hague, quite close to the city center and tourist information center. If you are in Amsterdam and want even more art, a visit to the Mauritshuis and The Hague would be perfect.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2012

although quite a small museum, it is certainly one of the best i have visited. contained over 3 floors it is very easy to get around and the paintings are certainly some of the best. my personal favourite was the view of Delft from the river by Vermeer. swifly followed by The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermmer. they like to refer to it as their very own Dutch Mona Lisa - i think it is better. the staff/guides are very helpful and polite, although don't let them see you with a camera! unless you are a souvenir hunter, give the gift shop a miss. on the whole, well worth a visit.
