The hotel is Ibis standard, is clean and was quiet. The reception and check in was great and friendly. The rooms are good, except there are too few plug sockets and there is no air conditioning (This will only be an issue during really warm summer months). The wifi in the hotel is very slow and buggy.
The restaurant offered a reasonable selection of food, but had no gluten free options available and the food took a long time to arrive.
We went to this hotel because of it's location, and to be fair, we were happy with the price/ value ratio.

Dear John,

Thanks for taking the time to send us this review concerning your experience at our hotel.

We are pleased to hear you were satisfied with our convenient location and with the standards we set ourselves. We would like to mention that some of our rooms do have air conditioning and can be requested, subject to availability for a small 10€ surcharge. We regret that you were not entirely satisfied with the number of sockets in your room. We have power strips available at reception upon request. We apologise for any problems you might have encountered with the wifi despite the fact that we do have several repeaters on each floor to endure a good signal throughout the hotel. Our team are on hand to assist with any connection problems you may have. We are happy that you received such a friendly and professional service from our team members.

We hope to have the occasion to welcome you back on future occasions.

Best regards,

Hicham Benali, Manager

The hotel is well-situated for the local battlefields etc (Car needed) The room is adequate with a good shower & clean (NO A/C). There is good access & lift for those with mobility issues. There is a 24hr bar which also offers snacks 24hr which we like as we're often touring & get back after the restaurant closes (9.30ish) We found the restaurant good & reasonable choices.
Breakfast (till 10AM) (+ E15pp) was plentiful Continental & kept us going all day
There is free parking to the rear, shared with other businesses.
This is the 1st time we've been to Belgium & these comments might be useful for others..A) Air Con seems to be unusual unless opting for a much more expensive hotel( Check reviews that it works!!) B) We found Belgium v.expensive for hotels, meals, drinks, taxis (1 E/minute) etc (4-5 euro a pint) C) our room was warm(fan provided) but not as hot as the clinic my wife works in for the NHS !! There is a cheap Burger Restaurant, just round the corner which is OK D) Most shops are shut from mid-July to mid Aug & the hotel is near to where a lot of music is played so can be noisy
We prefer the "Hotel" feel rather than B&B in someone's house so this suited us perfectly!

Firstly the good stuff. It's in a great position, easy to find and has easy parking at the rear (although shared with a number of other businesses). The staff were multilingual, helpful and friendly.

Now the bad. We had two rooms (four of us) there in early July 2018, booked and confirmed through Expedia about two months earlier. When we arrived they couldn't find our reservation details... The rooms they eventually gave us were at opposite ends of the building on the top floor and separated by a security door that we had to ask for extra keys to get through.

The top floor is essentially the attic and our rooms had sloping ceilings with a single window set high into the sloping part (that neither of the women could see out of). It opened by rotating and two of us bumped our heads on the part that rotated into the room. It had to be rotated that wide because neither of the rooms had air conditioning, something that's not acceptable for an Ibis 'Red" in the middle of an exceptionally hot summer. Our room had an exposed wall socket and some kind of uncovered hole in the bathroom wall so it's just as well we were not there with children. The security door - just outside our room - closed with a loud bang each time and continued to do so until late in the evening. I eventually got to sleep by using ear plugs - strangely pre supplied by the hotel.

It's not as if this hotel was cheap either. I've stayed in (many) better Ibis 'Blues" at half the price and experience is starting to suggest that whenever we book through a third party such as Expedia / Hotels.com etc we get the worst rooms the hotels have available. If we book direct the experience is usually much better.

Would I recommend it - probably not. I'd put up with the issues if this was F1 or another basic level hotel but at well over €100 / night (inc breakfast) it's not good value.

Room Tip: Stay away from the security doors

I love this place! Have now stayed twice and on all occasions the staff have been exceptional. The friendly greeting i received when walking in the first time, in fact each time i have approached the reception the staff have been so happy and friendly to help. If only Ibis hotels were as nice as this place i would stay more often...
Nice location, good sized rooms... can't fault this place..
LOVE IT!

Two nights spent at this Hotel. Its not cheap.
The dining facilities are moderate. There is however, no air conditioning, so the heat was unbearable during a hot period. You could not open the windows because of excessive street noise, roaring motor bikes, late night music and doubtless drunken screaming and shouting after the music finally stopped at 4a.m.
Inside noise es also unbearable.Corridor doors made of metal and not oiled, squeaking and banging all night. If you want a good nights sleep, go somewhere else
