I would say this was primarily a business hotel rather than a golf hotel, but they do arrange golf holidays and they do it very well! We played 3 golf courses including Royal Bercuit which we especially liked.

Our party was 16 veteran golfers and we had our own table or 16 each evening in the pleasant dining room. We chose our menus in advance and the food was top class, one of the reasons for the choice of hotel. We have found in recent years that many golf hotels in France have reduced quality in a bid to remain price competitive at around the £300 mark for short gold breaks. We found that spending a bit more and coming to Belgium gave us a much better holiday where the accommodation, food and drink are a key part of the holiday. We felt that we had good value for money.

Breakfast is excellent, a full buffet of cold and hot. Good choice and well prepared.

The rooms are typical business class rooms. In our case twin (246) with bath, shower and toilet. TV has Englsh channels including BBC1 and BBC2, useful for golf highlights as we were there during The Open. Good wardrobe and storage space, lots of 2 pin plugs (take UK adapters) for charging phones and golf watches.

Easy to find and good free parking.

All in all a good location within 10 miles or less of challenging golf courses and highly recommended for a golf holiday. Give it a try, I dooubt you'll be disappointed.

For heavy drinkers, there is a pub across the road as the hotel is just a bit pricey for beer and spirits, but the bar is plesant enough.

All of the staff are friendly and professional, mainly good English spoken (much better than my French or Flemish!).

You will be asked for a 50 Euro deposit on your credit card on arrrival but I'm assured that you get it back if you don't spend that much on your room.

The hotel is very nice and clean, with a very helpful staff. We had a exellent meal in the restaurant le sucrerie. the breakfast was also very good. Highly recommended when you visit memorial 1815 ,because it's only 2 km to the monument.

It's my second time here. The hotel is very nice and clean, while the staff nice and helpful with every request. Must compliment the breakfast as well: varied and very tasty highly recommended when in Waterloo!

Not sure about the criteria of the belgium hotel association to rate a Hotel 4 stars, but "last renovation younger than 20 years" is obvioously not part of the list. I was disappointed by this Martin's Hotel, as I've visited before the one in Leuven, what was a nice and beautiful experience. But this one in Waterloo is everything else than a recommendation. The only positive thing was the friendliness of the staff. Apart from that nothing overwhelming: style of the 80's, very dark rooms, old fashioned and worn out. On top some silverfishes in the bath - that's enough.

Room Tip: look for another hotel

We try to keep our hotel in good shape all the time. I am pleased to inform you that we have refurbished 21 Charming Superior and 8 Great Superior rooms in 2017 and will continue to do so in the near future. These new rooms offer an elegant style with light, space and a contemporary atmosphere. They are equipped either with a walk-in shower (Charming Superior) or a bubble bath (Great Superior).
Do not hesitate to book them for your next visit.
I hope we will be able to welcome you again in the near future.

We are a party of golfers and we have annually stayed at the Hotel now for many, many years and have never had cause to complain about anything. Our golfing calender for the whole tour is always ready upon our arrival and works like clockwork. The included breakfast menu suits all of us and offers a great choice of hot and cold dishes and the dining room is a beutiful place to sit and enjoy our food. This year, to keep the costs down for our members we booked all of our bedrooms in the Lodge rather than the main hotel which we had always done on previous years. The bedrooms are smaller but still very comfortable but the thing that all of the members loved was the walk in showers rather than the showers in the bath which the main hotel rooms have and we shall certainly book our rooms again in the Lodge on our return tour in 2019.

Please note the in the first phase of the refurbishement of the Martin's Grand Hotel, we have equipped our Charming Superior rooms with walk-in shower. Do not hesitate to book them for your next visit.
