We are a retired couple on a cycling tour of UK, Netherlands and Belgium. Our hosts were particularly welcoming and obliging, particularly in having our bikes serviced. The property is an oasis in the middle of a bustling city. The room was particularly comfortable and the breakfasts excellent. It is in easy walking distance of many restaurants in the local area and only a little further to the centre of the city and its wonderful historical attractions. It is also very close to cycle routes both to and out of the city.

Treat #1: Once you pass through the old wooden doors onto the property you simply feel relaxed and at home. Chantal, Joel and their kids are wonderfully warm, genuine people who go out of their way to make your experience of Gent truly memorable. Their dog Vina is an absolute sweetheart that you can cuddle the whole day long.

Treat #2: The accomodation was very comfortable and even though we could have enjoyed the amazing breakfast (Chantal scrambles an egg to PERFECTION!!) in our room, we preferred to eat in the house, chatting and laughing with the family in the morning.

Treat #3: The B&B isn't located directly in town, which means so can really experience a bit more of the city than just the regular touristy routes. The fact that they offered us bicycles to use for our entire stay made whizzing around town so much more fun and meant we didn't have to move our car an inch from its convenient parking spot.

Treat #4: We loved the sense of humour, lightness, and open nature of our hosts. Not only were they very informative about their city, but they are simply interesting individuals who have loads of interesting stories to tell, and if you are lucky you will even be treated with a private piano concert by daughter Kato...a nice way to start the day!!!

Thank you so much!

We stayed at Absolute Home for five nights in between Christmas and New Year. Chantal and Joel are wonderful hosts, Chantal goes out of her way to ensure that we felt home (starting with directions per sms, which was such a great help for those old-school-persons without GPS). The appartement is nice and cosy, the whole place super sweet and special. Breakfast was a treat every day, different every day, creative, healthy and so good! Our dog who isn't friendly with other dogs was given some training lessons with Chantals wonderful shepherd dog - the softest and friendliest creature imaginable. The hosts were the best hosts you could imagine. I mean - who would take it ever so cooly if you stayed for one night more than you booked without telling them? That is exactly what we did, by accident. We thought we had booked five nights but had only booked four. We went out for the day, leaving Chantal to cope with all this. Fortunately, the next guests weren't due until next day, so we could stay another night. Chantal was a good sport about the misunderstanding and we all had a laugh. It really felt like the home away from home that we are always looking for when we travel. The hosts go just this extra mile to make the stay worthwhile. And the fact that the B&B is NOT in the centre, but a mere 15 minutes leasurely stroll along the canal away was for us another bonus. The walk was so nice everytime, you get to see more than just the tourist-parts, and it was super quiet in this neighbourhood. Plus you can park the car for free in all the streets, which is really worth a lot in Ghent. All in all we will stay at Absolute Home again, especially since it is en route to England where we go every year. Looking forward to a stop-over of two ore more days in Ghent from now on!

Wonderful people and centrally located in Gent! When we stayed at Absolute Home we were given bikes to use in the city, which made trips to the city centre very quick and enjoyable. Would most certainly recommend!

After meeting Chantal, Joel & Family in Lanzarote last August I was given the chance to meet up again this April and for 3 days in which I had a fabulous time with them.Enjoying visiting the beautiful city of Ghent with such wonderful hosts Chantal, Kato & Bert showing me the sights. Also I much say my stay at Chantal`s BnB was the most relaxing 3 days I spent in a place that was not my own home. The décor of the of the room I stayed in was of a very high quality and would highly recommend for those who will visit Ghent.
