All of our "regular" places were fully booked so we gave the Van Eyck a try based on reviews. Great old townhouse style hotel reminicient of the 2* hotels in Paris that are converted townhouses. The reception was wonderful, (Mimi was extremely helpful), and the price very affordable for Bruges. Of course, no AC in the room, nor an elevator. Not bad, just a little inconvenient. Breakfast is a very reasonable €5/person. Just a block from the town square, this is VERY conveniently located. Yes, I would recomend the Hotel Van Eyck.

The place is a perfect match with the whole city defenately recommend it, the lady at the reception is just awesome so nice and warm.

The only weird thing for me was that the checkout is 10:30 and not around 12, which maybe its normal here, I wouldnt know.

It's a very good represent of the city environment! The owner and the staff are always interested in your confort and also give you a lot of advices of how enjoy your stay in the hotel and the city.

It is located right in the center of the city so your never will have problems to find somewhere to eat or drink. The neighborhood is very safe and animated at nights.

The furniture feel kind of old, but I think it's part of its "magic". Our room has a wonderful view of Belford tower!

The lady who owns this hotel is so lovely it betrays me a little to to have to say some negative things. The hotel is 2 stars, but it feels old and the bedding, towels and decor reflect that. While it is warm and comfortable and mostly clean, there is a pervading smell of tobacco throughout, and even the clean towels carry quite a smell. It's well located however and very welcoming and again, the owner is a lovely lady who will make you feel happy to be in Bruges and take good care of you. I would say all in all this is a fine place to stay a few nights for the cost, but just be aware of the drawbacks.
