Destroyed as was much of Ypres in 1915, the Cathedral has been loving restored over the years. I believe the final bits were completed in 2011.

It's free to entry, so take a while to have a good look at the restorations and some of the items that survived the destruction.

The cathedral is the centre piece of the town and well worth spending an hour of your time just walking in quiet contemplation.

One can only imagine how important this building was to all those that passed through Ypres on the way to the Western Front.

Right behind the Cloth Hall is the Saint Martin's Cathedral. The outside, as well as the inside are super beautiful!

The first thing I saw inside was the gorgeous organ. Wow!

The altar was faced with chairs in three directions. Straight ahead and on the left and on the right. There were many wooden stairs. The statues, the ceiling and the stained-glass windows worked together in harmony, making this place attractive!

I saw a few tombs in the cathedral.

I saw another altar of Joseph and Jesus. There were also a lot of paintings from people I didn't know.

Most of their paintings were very attractive.

The Cathedral showed what happened to this Cathedral during WWI. It was almost completely destroyed, but it was rebuilt again to its earlier glory.

The preacher's pulpit had statues made of gold, portraying Jesus' ministry.

I enjoyed the Cathedral immensely. It was worthwhile to admire its beauty!
