Not exceptional by any standard, part from the amount of reconstruction it had to rec I've after the Great War and how difficult was to find it open, we still liked this church, with a good content of art and a very simple interior

Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Definately a must see while in Leper. The doors are open all day, you are free to enter and have a look inside to see beautiful works of art , the tombs of Bishops
and much more

Destroyed as was much of Ypres in 1915, the Cathedral has been loving restored over the years. I believe the final bits were completed in 2011.

It's free to entry, so take a while to have a good look at the restorations and some of the items that survived the destruction.

The cathedral is the centre piece of the town and well worth spending an hour of your time just walking in quiet contemplation.

One can only imagine how important this building was to all those that passed through Ypres on the way to the Western Front.
