Need to get there by car. Rooms large and nicely furnished. Back rooms give feel of country setting. Staff very accommodating. Right next to a battlefield with trenches and shells and blockhouses as well as crater

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back very quiet

Stayed just for one night last week (may 2017) What a lovely hotel! Great greeting and we were in the new building (me my husband and my daughter aged 11) Very easy to find and a short drive from the Dunkirk ferry port.
Wow great room , all very new and a shower to throw a party in! Serve food until 8pm but was given a map and info about Ypres so we could eat there as we were heading in for the Last post at the Menin Gate (very moving and very well observed)
Bar was open until 11pm so we sat outside with a cold beer admiring the gardens. Breakfast was the usual continental breakfast complete with Croissants and Pain au chocolate , breads ,cheese, ham ,eggs, etc.
Had a look round the gardens which is a must to see the trenches and the remnants from WW1
Hooge Crater museum is a 2 min walk down the round as is the Cemetery both well worth the visit as its on your doorstep.
Flying visit to Ypres but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I highly recommend it for anyone.

Room Tip: we stayed in the new building and it was excellent

We arrived last Thursday which was a bank holiday. Even so the staff were very helpful. We had a ground floor room that was large and very comfy. Unfortunately we could not have breakfast as that started at 8am and we had to leave around 6.30 each day. The staff immediately offered us a kettle and before we had unloaded the car there was a tray with everything we needed to make hot drinks each morning. Due to the nature of the event we were taking part in we did not get a chance to sample the restaurant, I am sure we will when we go back. The grounds are amazing. The room was cleaned every day to a high standard. Lovely comfortable stay, thank you.

Stayed 1 night as a stop over for the Spa classic. We had a room in the new block which was very clean and spacious and would recommend staying there.
The service was good and the staff friendly. We would definitely return again, especially for a battlefield tour.
You can also order a taxi from the hotel to Ypres which is very prompt and friendly. Next door is a private WW1 museum which is also worth a visit.

The hotel is quite old - although they putting in a new building close by.

The receptionist was welcoming and very helpful with information about the hotel and where to eat etc. Even offered to carry our bags as there was no lift to the second floor.

Beds were clean and comfortable although the room decor was very old and tired. No kettle in the room which is the same in most hotels on the continent - but a hair dryer hidden under the sink!!

We ate in the hotel restaurant for the first night - which was good - although the menu was quite limited.

Breakfast was a very nice buffet with plenty of the usual continental fare with the addition of some hard boiled eggs!! Coffee was good and hot or tea if you preferred.

A party of four of us travelled up from Albert on the Somme to spend a few days in the Ypres (Wipers!) Salient, we stayed in the older building of this quite rustic hotel and, after initial fears of 1970s style accommodation, we soon realised it had all the standard amenities of the 21st century! The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff very helpful.
It is located adjacent to the Hooge Crater so you know you are in the heart of the Front lines from 1914-1918, it is also only a short drive from the Menin Gate Memorial and the Passendaele Museum, so makes an ideal base for this type of visit in Belgium.

Room Tip: West wing overlooks the Hoog Crater!

We stayed because of its billing and closeness to Ypres. It was quaint but a little tired. It does have some of the remaining WWI trenches on the property. The breakfast was o.k. but nothing exceptional. The desk clerk was not very helpful and did not want to take much time to answer questions about the area.. We did find that the information center in town was very helpful, including the research center.. The Flanders Field Museum was excellent and the town overall was friendly. If I returned I would select another hotel unless you can get in the new section

Room Tip: Get a room in the new section as we could hear people talking in the room next to ours
