Description: The Ferry Inn is an ancient, Seventeenth Century pub and restaurant that was the home of the ferry between the Isle-of-Oxney and the English mainland at Appledore. It is situated in the midst of beautiful countryside between Tenterden, Appledore, Stone-in-Oxney and Wittersham and adjoins the historic Saxon Shore Way. It is also only 6 miles away from Rye and Camber Sands. The Ferry Inn, also known as the Oxney Ferry, enjoys late sun and beautiful views all year round from the pub's front terrace and riverside garden. It offers an extensive selection of award winning ales and fine wines in both its restaurant and bar areas. The Ferry Restaurant offers locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked food in a beautiful countryside surrounding. A selection of freshly caught fish is available year round, and specials in the winter months include a selection of locally sourced game. The Ferry Inn is nearly 300 years old. Wally Milstead, who was the Landlord of the Ferry for over 30 years, provides a potted history. The Saxon Shore Way, which passes right by the Ferry, is a 163 mile walk along the coastline of Roman times . The Ferry is tucked away on the South-Eastern edge of the Isle of Oxney, on the old road through Stone from Wittersham to Appledore.

Husband booked a table for 2 for my birthday lunch. We arrived a few minutes early, waitress nodded to reserved table and said 'that must be yours'. We sat down and waited and waited.......After 15 mins of apparently being invisible my husband went to the bar to get us some drinks. After 30 mins we still had not been given a menu, so decided to leave as our custom was obviously not important. The restaurant area was not busy. According to other customers the waitress was new. If so why were management not keeping an eye on things. Unable to review food as didn't get to try it and now we never will.. Spoilt day for us. We are quite local and will definitely not be recommending to anyone.

Went clamping as a group of 6 and found the ferry inn just up the road! Was the perfect spot to warm ourselves and enjoy good food. So perfect we kept coming back for more. The team were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. Thank you!

A group of 6 pals came here after one of the party recommended it and it far exceeded all expectation. Not one dish was disappointing and after 4 visits, we could testify to most things on the menu. Particular favourite was the duck and the roast, the lemon posset is delicious! The staff were brilliant, chatty warm and professional! Really is a great pub! Wish I could give it 10.

So welcoming to some rather damp and muddy glampers- left feeling like locals!
Food was amazing (between us we pretty much tried the entire menu) the burger was one of the best I have ever tasted.
So accommodating - nothing was too much trouble!
Would definitely return again!
PJ was wonderful looking after us all.
