This 130 year old cottage is nestled in a quiet neighbourhood overlooking Witless Bay.It is beautifully appointed with all the modern amenities you will need but if you do need something, the owner is only a phone call away and is quick to respond. There is a single bed downstairs and a queen bed upstairs with a lovely sitting area at the top of the stairs. The bathroom is downstairs and has a beautiful skylight above the soaker tub/shower. The views from the deck and windows facing the bay are amazing and we watched whales spouting like popping corn! You can be lulled to sleep at night by the crashing waves on the nearby beach. The cottage is located on the Irish Loop( which is a lovely 4 hour drive along the coastline) and only 25 minutes from St.John's. There are good nearby restaurants: The Irish Loop Coffee shop serves all day breakfast and turns into The Forks restaurant in the evening and the Captains' Table has great seafood. The Ecotours Zodiac Adventures is within walking distance and the O'Brien's Whale Watch Tours is just a few minutes drive away in Bay Bulls( for those of us who are less
" adventurous"). The tour guide is a singer from the Irish Descendants who serenaded us with local folk songs and we saw lots of whales and puffins. There is a convenience store within walking distance and a Foodland grocery store just 5 minutes drive away. The only thing we regretted about Birchy Hill cottage was having to leave! Absolutely loved it !!
