“Perfect 1st family holidays”

While looking for our 1st holidays as a young family, with an under 1 year baby, all reviews about Casa dos Galegos reassured us this was the right choice to make.

Once there, it was even better that we were expecting. The house was simply marvellous, spacious, inviting, very well appointed, mixing both typical traditional and local Alentejo features with a modern twist to it, which works really well. Pool is great (specially if you're lucky enough to get it filled with nearby spring water). Outside space is also brilliant, fully equipped BBQ and an inviting dining area with a table for 4.

Once there you'll also be able to be part of Casa dos Galegos big and lovely cats family. All very friendly.

There's no mobile network in the house but nothing like having a reliable WiFi connection if you really need to tell friends and family (or work colleagues) about the amazing place you're staying in. Mobile coverage is available after 1/2mins drive though.

Last, but definitely not least, the owner - Daniel. It's hard to put in words with how much sympathy we were received and welcomed. Daniel is a great host, very friendly, helpful and full of surprises that make you feel really special as guests. As hospitality professionals, we can easily say that Daniel goes the extra mile to make your stay memorable.

We'll be most definitely back in a near future. Perfect for summer (pool helps), but also a very good option for a little countryside break in the winter.

What makes this place so special is not only the immaculate and fabulous design, mixing the old and the new, the attention to detail like the welcome blackboard, dog bowls with some food, a gift of wine and local jams, Maria popping round in the evening with warm bread, but It is really Daniel who from the moment you meet him his warm smile, immaculate appearance and caring nature tops of what has been a fabulous few days here. Daniel you have created a beautiful place and it shows with the care that you take. Thank you does not seem the right thing to say but you have got it spot on and for readers of this who are thinking of staying in the area, please give this place a go you won't regret it

Wow what a holiday!
My partner and I wanted to book somewhere in Portugal where we could just relax and spend time together. Casa dos Galegos is the perfect place for this. It is set back from the main road and over looks lovely geenery. The house itself has been finished to a very high standard, giving you the feeling that you are in a 5 * hotel.
Daniel is amazing, he is keen to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He gave us tips on places to go nearby, told us about the history of the area and bought us homemade wine, local bread and cakes. He is very attentive and is there when you need him but most of the time he leaves you to enjoy your holiday alone.
Casa dos Galegos is a beautiful place, lending itself to holiday makers looking for tranquility, peace and time to relax. I will be recommending it to friends and family and will of course consider going back again myself!!!

Thanks again Daniel, you are a star!!!

“A peaceful home from home”

We booked a week at Casa Dos Galegos before my husband went on a tour of Afghanistan. We wanted to be secluded and just relax for the week together. The villa was just as described and looked even better than in the pictures. It is decorated so perfectly and it all suits the feel of the place.
There was no air conditioning which is not needed as the cottage kept so cool throughout the day and night, we slept with the windows closed and were still cool enough even with the temps rising though out the day.
Daniel could not have been a more helpful host, he was happy to provide information about there area and the history of the property. He have us tips about where to go and was always happy to help. The arrival of fresh bread on Monday was a bonus too to enjoy with out dinner and some gorgeous traditional apple and cinnamon cake for our dessert!
By the pool it is so quiet and all you can here is the trickle of water which makes it so tranquil. There are two sun loungers and a large umbrella to keep out of the midday sun when needed. The garden area also has a table and chairs to eat dinner on and have a BBQ.
The nearby town of Castelo De Vide is lovely for a little look around, a drink and some history. This is also where the nearest supermarket is with a wide selection, we cooked dinner every night and this place sold everything we needed!
I cannot recommend this place enough to people, if you like the peace and quiet and to get away from all the tourist tack then this place is just perfect! Only a few minutes from the border of Spain also.
Thank you Daniel for making our stay so comfortable, I'll be back for my cats ;)

“amazing place”

We spent seven charming days in Casa dos Galegos. After our arriving, Daniel, the owner told us about the most interesting and worth visiting places in the surroungings. What is more, before our coming there he recommended us to go to the local Bar Restaurante O Tachinho in the nearby town Portagem. The house itself is situated in the quiet place which assures maximum separation from the outer world. We were accompanied with a murmur of water trickling from a little spring and sheep's bells which were sometimes grazing nearby. There was everything what you can need during the stay, including caffee machine. The house was furnished in a modern style but with some traditional accents, for example inside doors or an antique chest. As a result, it gave this place an inimitable and fabulous character of a cottage. The whole house was freshly redecorated which additionally amplified the feeling of cleanliness and freshness. Despite the lack of an air conditioning in the house, during the heat there was a nice chill inside, typical for old Portuguese houses. Daniel, the owner is an excellent "interlocutor" whose presence can make the stay in Casa dos Galegos even more agreeable. Daniel told us a lot about the history of the region, places worth visiting and traditional delicacies (thank you once again for the local bread and apple pie). By the accasion, it is a heaven on earth for those who like cats because there are a lot of them there. But, if you are not a cat lover, they will not disturb you. It was an unforgettable holiday for us, in the place where you can simply feel laid-back. It is a pity that time goes by so quickly.

Beautiful location, away from all the hustle and bustle, but just a short drive from stunning villages and castles. You have to see it to believe how beautiful Portugal is.

Daniel the owner (we loved him, lovely lovely guy!) lives next door and cannot do enough for you, but at the same time leaves you alone to appreciate everything on site. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he can speak fantastic english!

They have local fresh bread man deliver to your door, also fish and fruit on different days!

Our 9year old child lived in the pool, very refreshing after scorching heat from the sun!!

BBQ'ed most nights as was so beautiful outside under canopy overlooking countryside with our music on and candles, also there is lighting as well on floor and walls.

Highly recommended for anyone concidering booking this villa :) johnny and jeanette.

“Fantastic stay in Alentejo area”

If you're looking for a home away from home in the lovely remote Marvao area, don't look further and go to Casa dos Galagos.

After a long trip we were warmly welcomed by Daniel who made us feel at home immediately. The recently renovated house was really impressive; a mix from modern with typical (vintage) Portugese touches. Great facilities and amenities, even our little 5-month old son was also provided with all his needs. Daniel is very helpful and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for him. He has also suggested some restaurants in the area which all turned out to be very nice and local. Excellent!
