“Possibly Best Holiday ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Falesia Hotel with my wife and its possibly the best Holiday we have ever had.
All Staff from reception, through House Keeping, Bar and especially the restaurant were excellent. Added to this was the extremely enjoyably bonus of the Thompson Gold team ensured we were entertained during the day with activities and quizzes and then some pretty reasonable evening entertainment as well.
The food was excellent albeit a buffet service.
The only gripe would be the sunbeds =- they had obviously seeen a little too much service and need replacing. Keep up the good work Falesia.

I stayed at the hotel for 10 days from the 20th of October 2011. The hotel is very well presented. The rooms are clean with modern fittings. The two pools are clean and inviting with plenty of sunbeds. The food is simply excellent. The staff are helpful and polite. The entertainment was good with a range of shows. I would recommend that you book through the hotel rather than an agent. The hotel junior suite booked through an agent is not the same as that booked through the hotel. The weather was good at around 23C during my stay.

I have just returned from a six day stay at the falesia hotel. I was a bit apprehensive as I was alone but from the time I recd., the booking confirmation I knew I had made the right choice. The hotel send me a very welcoming message, on arrival (bus fo4U coach from airport for 20eur.) I was made to feel okay. I was given a beautiful room,448 overlooking the pool and pine trees. The dining room was beautiful ,the food was superb breakfast and evening meal. great local fresh produce ,fruit and veg. The chicken /spinach roulade with grilled peaches was declicious, as was the fresh orange and coconut cake. The reviews dont do it justice! the Thompsons team were amazing when they realised I was alone they were so friendly and kind to me. Every night was such an uplifting experience in the lounge where Joe and Jill and the boys entertained us. To go to a show of such calibre would have been so expensive in any theatre, top marks to the thompson group. I hope this review helps other people who would like to travel alone. Weather was terrific and there is a lovely garden and pool area to relax in. Lovely friendly hotel guests staying in hotel. Pride of place travel agent on main street outside hotel really great for all transport needs including airport. Rosemary

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be well located . I was delighted with aspect of my room,448,great views towards t...

We stayed at the Falesia Hotel between 9th and 23rd October. This was our third stay, we upgraded to a junior suite (no.207). It was worth upgrading, tea/coffee facilities (of which the sachets were replenished daily), and a small bottle of red wine and fresh fruit on arrival. A 1.5 litre of water was also left in the room on a daily basis. Fridge cost €35 for the fortnight (which we feel is quite a lot) and the fridge is a bit on a small size, i.e. one box of wine and two cans of lager. We did not have to pay for the safe as this was included in the upgrade.
On arrival we were greeted by the friendly reception staff, and check in was about 5 minutes (as we had a taxi transfer there were no other guests checking in).
We tended to eat out at lunchtime as it gets quite costly otherwise. Every evening we were greeted by the head waiter and also Angelo the head chef. We were a bit disappointed in the evening meals this year. On the last two stays the evening menu was on display outside the restaurant, but not this time. So you had no idea what was on the menu. Also it was a bit repetitive, which was a shame. The fresh fruit (pineapple, kiwi, melon, etc.) and the desserts were very good.
The breakfasts were very good, a vast assortment of bread rolls and cakes, also full breakfasts, i.e. scrambled, poached, hard boiled and fried eggs, bacon, proper sausages, potato slices/croquettes, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc.). There was fresh fruit (kiwi, orange and grapefruit, melon). Then there was tinned sliced pineapple, peaches, pears. We could not understand that fresh pineapple is served in the evening but tinned pineapple is served at breakfast.
The major let down was the orange squash.
The entertainment was OK if you liked that sort of thing.
Bobby Davro appeared the first Saturday night as the entertainment – excellent, a pleasure to watch.
The Falesia coach trips were well worth it, €5 per person to Albufeira, and €10 to Villamoura per person return.
The indoor and outdoor pools were good, not too cold. The Jacuzzi worked (by the indoor pool) we found worked intermittently. The sun beds could do with replacing as they are rather old and decrepit.
We went to Tania’s cafeteria on several occasions, good value for money and excellent quality, pizzas and kebabs excellent. The Brothers Bar was only open once during our holiday. Hugo’s Bar very cheap, a bottle of wine was only €6. They did a wide range of other snacks.
The weather was excellent and if you like a quiet relaxing holiday and away from the town hotels and discos this would be very suitable.
We haven’t decided whether to return next year.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Junior suite

Just came back from the Flaesia Hotel, Portugal on Sunday 23rd October, what a beautiful hotel, staff, very welcoming, nothing too much trouble for them, food excellent, the rotund chef was in the dining room to welcome the guests and to see all our requirements were met.

Our room, was a suite, including free fresh fruit on arrival, a bottle of wine and the bottles of water replenished each day. Our maid Julietta was very good, very friendly and did an axcellent job.

Wow!!! the entertainment staff, Jo Slow, Gill Davy, Joe Hodgekinson, (aka Joe Quiff) and Zee, were the best, they looked after the daily entertainment around the poo during the day and then transformed themselves into West End Stars at night, Well done and thank you for keeping my husband Robert ammused while I sat and sunbathed ha ha !!

Good luck to Joe Quiff for his stint in Cinderella, one of the ugly sisters in Doncaster, we will be coming up from Hertfordshire to see you, so beware Joe, with our granchildren, if you are as good in this production as you have been at the Falesia, they will have a star on their hands.

I even rang my sister after a few days at the hotel and told her to get down to the travel agent and come out!!! she did with my brother-in-law and they had as good a time a we did.

We will definately recommend this hotel to ALL our friends and family and hopefully we will go back again in the future.

Well done to all involved in making this holiday one to remember for all the RIGHT reasons!!

Linda & Robert Connor
Shenley, Hertfordshire

Absolutely perfect. My wife had the most brilliant holiday at the Falesia. The staff were first class. Thomson Gold entertainment team were tops. Jo, Joe, Jill & Zee were outstanding, as were Natalie and Neil the reps.

This was our first visit to both the Falesia, Portugal and a Thomson Gold Hotel . It ticked all the boxes for us . From the moment we arrived the staff were most welconing , attentive, helpful and polite. We did have some small isses with the air-con and fridge which were very quickly solved by Elizabeth on reception.

As with any holiday the food is an important factor, again we were not disappointed. Breakfast had a huge variety of both cold and hot food ,more than enough to set you up for the day ! Evening meal was a buffet, with the variety and choice of food excellent, the presence of Chef Angello in the dining room allowed everyone the opportunity to critique the food directly with him. The food was always very well presented, it never looked untidy. The restauarant itself is a very pleasant design tables either having a panoramic view of the gardens or under subdued lighting.

Our room was a junior suite which was a very good size, well presented , cleaned every day to a high standard . Like all other reviews we think it is unreasonable to pay for a fridge after having paid for a junior suite.

The hotel itself has very good grounds , a great indoor pool and Turkish bath. The show bar is a good size with prompt waiter service.

Thomsons entertainment was high energy with all of the team making a contribution.

Our experience with Thomsons has always been good and our first experience with Thomsons Gold will certainly make us choose this type of holiday again.

Room Tip: Go for a Junior Suite.
