“The good and the bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

Just come back after spending 1st two weeks of April here (including Easter) (Self Catering) Apartment was a good size, clean and fairly well equipped. Full working oven was a plus as able to cook and feed same as at home ie Pizza, roast chicken etc which some of you may say is not the point of a holiday, I rather cook and have good healthy meals than pay a fortune and eat junk for 2 weeks. We overlooked pool on 5th floor. Did not notice any noise or disturbance. Location is excellent for self catering and 3 supermarkets close by. Worth comparing prices as varied between Continente and Dolce Pinge.Hotel courtesy bus runs to Old Town
NEGATIVES were that everything is very expensive at this hotel. sunbed matress was 2 euro a day, Safety deposit box was 35 euro + 25 euro deposit. Bar was extortinate ie large beer 3.50, Magnums 7.50.(we bought drink at supermarket and enjoyed without terrible entertainment You had to have a membership for gym, swimming hats for indoor pool not advertised. Beach quite a long walk with little people and everything you need to take. Hotel Childrens club did not run during first week despite assurance from entertainments manager before booking holiday and then only run for a couple of days over Easter with arty crafty things. Nothing for kids to do in evenings or day if weather bad unless with Thomas Cook/kids club when in season. Be careful with day trips. Ticket Shop has several shops offering same trips at different prices. Shop on strip and at bottom of strip are cheapest. We paid 16 at shopping mall to find we could have only paid 12 euro elsewhere.
Overall we had a reasonably priced holiday as we did self cater. If we had eaten out or used hotel bar and restaurants we would have spent several hundred pounds doing so. As Portugal is suffering badly with the drop in Euro their prices seem to have increased. We did not find it particularly cheap and would probalby not return in the foreseeable future unless we picked up a bargain!!

Highs and lows with this holiday. We had been asked if we would like to upgrade and paid extra for a one bedroom appartment with the promise of a poolside view.
On arrival we collected the keys and very very dissapointed with the Studio appartment, it had two single beds and a put up bed which just squeezed in the gap between the singles. The balcony looked out over the perimator road and a car park. The room was clean but the fittings were 'old' it would have been good in its time and for two people. It was not geared for three albeit the child was 11, there were only two chairs inside, two chairs on the balcony and very little room.
When we informed the reception we were told to take it up with our travel company which we did and are still in dispute with. luckily the saved the phone call booking and have a record of the conversation asking if we would like the upgrade.
On the plus side the food was very nice, a good selection of well cooked food on offer at each meal. Another dissapointment was although the website shows a gym in the list of facilities, this is not free even for fully inclusive. I think it was 16 euros per session.
For a fairly cheap fully inclusive I guess you get what you pay for, but don't be fooled by the nice photots on the website!

Room Tip: Check what you are paying for before you get there

Lovely hotel, food and great staff, however the place is full of seagulls!! Come four in the afternoon they are everywhere, all deciding to take their bath in the pool, hence we didn't go in it!! If you are going I would recommend you take an umbrella as there is a lot of flying bird poo and I didn't enjoy it hitting the leg of my clean trousers, had it been my mum it would have been funny!! Ha ha!!

Just returned today from a weeks holiday . I will start with the positives of this hotel.
1. Great Location 10 min either way to the old town or strip
2.Outdoor area was nice & clean good for kids esp when sun not shinning
3. Indoor pool was a godsend as weather not great.
4. Staff friendly
5. Good size 1 bedroom apartment
6. Pool side bar

Now for the negatives & there is quite a few.
1. FOOD!!! beware of going all inclusive the breakfast was nothing short of VILE freezing cold food not alot of choice for kids & nothing for vegi's. considering the prices in Portugal we would definatley go self catering the next time as kids survived on melon & when they did eat both kids had sickness & diahorea. Lunch & dinner was a hit & a miss food was always cold...
2.we were put in room, 521 which was directly above the balcony for the bar which was on the 3rd floor this was very noisy with people sitting until 1am. We put up with this for a few nights then to our utter dismay they put 10 guys from wales on a stag night in 3 rooms across from us who were very loud & roaming the corridors until early morning. I complained the next morning & we were given a diff room however why would they put stags & hens at same part of hotel as families when is was quite clear the hotel was not full.
3 Entertainment at night for kids was non existant a different singer on an organ every night singing songs we didnt even know. When I asked rep about this she said the hotel catered for adults at night but I dont think asking for a kids disco from 8pm -9pm is alot to ask considering the amount of kids running about.
4 the size & amount of seagulls is unreal my daughter was coming back from the bar with food & they swooped down on her until she dropped the tray they all sit in the swimming pool at late afternoon then start ripping open the bin bags etc looking for scraps.
5. apartments are good size but would I say a 4star definatley not as really could be doing with an update,
I can imagine the hotel would be chaos in the summer when full would i return yes but only if I got a cheap deal self catering & could request the room

A nice hotel with good amenities. Impressive reception area and friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and clean but a little dated. As we were vivisting at the start of the season they were still sorting out a lot of the hotel, painting and cleaning.
Good entertainment everynight (a little cheesy but a good giggle).
The hotel can be a little noisy first thing in the morning with all of the 'All Inclusive' gang racing down to get their breakfast! Take ear plugs and you'll be fine!
Excellent situation. You can walk into both Old Town and the Strip so don't bother paying for taxis! Also don't pay for the 'Red Tour Bus' or 'Blue and Yellow Train' as you can walk to where they travel too! May be a better idea if you have kiddies.

Room Tip: Try for a room at the back of the hotel if you want a sunny balcony!

Went to this hotel on a girlie holiday, really enjoyed the stay, and the area was good too. The old town was really nice spent most of our days there, you can get a taxi from the hotel for a few euros, we went self catering, but i think next time i will go all inclusive, woud recommend this hotel for famiies, as got a good swimming pool for kids, bus trips to zoomarine and waterparks, bus stop outside the hotel, zoomarine is a good day out, you can interact with dolphins cost about £150pp, but worth it, i woud say it takes about 40 mins from the airport.

We stayed here for 2 weeks last August and was very disappointed. We booked this family holiday on an all inclusive basis thank goodness because if we hadn't it would have been more expensive. We have three children aged 9,8 and 6 and the buffet evening meal was always cold even as we were getting down there early. The A la carte restaurant was really good but you had to pay extra for this but it was worth it. We had to set the alarm clock every morning at 6 so we could reserve 2 sunbeds which was a nightmare as you are supposed to be on holiday!!!! When we spoke to the holiday reps about this they told us that they had told the manager this, but he just said "so" . Obviously not concerned!!!! Would we return ...... NO
