Stayed in Brisamar Apt for the first time this August with wife and 2 children. Had never booked with this company before or stayed in Amarcao de Pera. We were a little apprehensive but needn't have worried. On arrival we were met by our driver Vincent (very friendly) from Yellowfish which had been arranged by holiday rental company. When we got to apt at 11pm we were met by property manager, Derek who was also very friendly and helpful. The apartment itself is of a high standard, spacious and spotlessly clean and everything working as it should. On the downside the balcony is not the largest but was fine for sitting out in the morning with a coffee. We didn't use the balcony off the 2nd bedroom as kids were sleeping there and we didn't encourage them to use it. The resort does have quite a few high rise apartment blocks but I can't say this bothered us too much and the beach, promenade and fisherman's beach & old village more than made up for it. There are loads of restaurants serving the usual holiday fare and also some great fish. We enjoyed our meals especially at L'Oasis Pizzeria which is just off the main street from the Holiday Inn and at The Clipper Restaurant on the main street. At night the promenade starting from the Holiday Inn is buzzing with people, there are stalls and street entertainers and at the fisherman's beach there was a funfair which our kids enjoyed. However, if you had older teenagers or young adults they may not find this resort lively enough as we only came across a few bars and didn't see any nightclubs. This seems to be a resort where the Portugese holiday and we did not meet too many Irish or British tourists which again did not bother us. The beach was beautiful but we found the waves quite high and the water so salty that it stung our eyes. Also, even though the beach was very crowded we did not see any lifeguards. For these reasons we mostly stuck to the pool which although not the largest, we had virtually to ourselves most days and also had allocated sunloungers which saves all that early morning dashing with towels! The only real problem we had was with mosquitos which we have never experienced before in Portugal, having all been bitten, some of us more than others! It seems that this has been a feature in Portugal this year & was not limited to this resort. At the end of our holiday, Derek again came to see us out and Vincent our driver arrived on time to take us to the airport. When we returned home our breakage deposit was in our account the following day. All in all we had a great holiday, we would definitely visit this area again and will certainly use this Company again as we found them friendly, efficient and good value.
