We visited Casa Das Oliveiras Velhas for a week April and had a lovely time. Four days lovely sunshine and two days rainy - but all in all a great trip. The Villa is very spacious and well appointed. It is a very calming place to be. There are several outside areas where you can sit and enjoy a meal in the shade or you can soak up the sunshine by the pool. The large lounge is very cosy in the evening if you decide to stay in - and if it is chilly the wood burning stove is easy to use and very efficient. Outside the olive groves are all around and ideal for strolling.
The trip from the airport is simple and only takes about twenty mins max - less time than it takes to collect the hire car!
There are other villas nearby but the area is very peaceful and restive.
We visited Loule, the nearest town, on market day and had a lovely time. Also a rather longer trip took us to Tavira, another pretty town, where we found a delightful artisan fish restaurant that was superb value for 12E per head. On another day we visited Silves town centre where there are storks’ nests on many of the chimneys in the town and we spent a very pleasant hour sitting at a café listening to music from a live band. On the way back we stopped off at Albefueira to visit the beach.
Being golfers, we went to view the local courses, about 15mins away, and at Vale do Lobo we walked along the beach adjacent to San Lorenzo. It is a lovely flower strewn walk and you can enjoy the views out to sea or towards the golf course. There is also a nature reserve there.
Definitely a 'go back to' place
