Sagres is located in a stunning part of the Algarve. The town itself is very laid back and run down looking. This area is mostly for surfers, hikers and tourists.
We sated the the Mareta View for its simplicity and views. The inn itself is very adequate. We were able to take some breathtaking hikes along the coast from the home base.

Good- helpful staff and clean accommodation with great view. Nice grounds and easy access to the beach. Also, lots of restaurants within a 15 minute walk. Breakfast is included, although mostly breads and meats and cheese.
Ask for a balcony sea view room, which is very relaxing.
Use of the pool at the sister site is just a short walk away.

Not so good- the bathrooms are small and not well laid out. Bathroom amenities seem cheap.
The pillows are not comfortable. Also, be warned there is no elevator, bur our bags were taken to the room by Jose.

Overall a peasant stay and was as expected. With a few improvements to the room amenities and a better breakfast this could be a great spot

Would return again nevertheless.

I’d query the use of the word Boutique with regards to this place…diplomatically, one could say it’s got notions about itself…or, on the other hand, could they consciously misrepresent the boutique aspect?…lots of misleading pics online led me to believe it had its own pool…as opposed to marching from Mareta View, up the square to Mareta Beach and around the corner/past pizzeria/down the hill to Mareta House…where you basically find a small plunge pool (chest height at deep end). Have a look at the couch next to reception…does it say boutique to you? As for some of the inspirational art on the walls…give me strength! Life doesn’t have to be perfect…just wonderful? All you need is love??… You are right where you should be??? This kind of stuff is nausea inducing! Pillows in rooms were cheap foam/no support…and as for air con, mine didn’t work…went down to ask for battery for remote…told, I don’t know how to fix it, by girl…asked, could she try a colleague…got a perfunctory call about an hour later to come down and collect it…not exactly falling over themselves customer service-wise. Weak wifi and cheap toiletries too. I note that the breakfast/luggage help/staff friendliness is a recurring theme in the reviews…the General manager replied to these issues as long ago as 2013 saying, “it is very important for us to get your feedback so we can improve our service”…does he suffer from amnesia? Parking isn’t convenient…had to reverse out of a cul de sac. By the way, there’s no lift, so if you’re old/infirm, take into account there will be no offer of assistance. The doors slam too (everywhere tiled, so extra loud), this is mentioned in the reviews and could easily be rectified without any great investment. In terms of the cushions in bedrooms, I wonder are they Maharam Millerstripe?…or knock offs?…have a look for yourselves! Finally, the breakfast is just mean…the cereal bowls were actually funny…ashtray depth/size…do they think we’ll eat them out of muesli? Coffee ok from a Nespresso machine, but the juice annoyed me…you see oranges growing on the side of the road in Portugal, yet they offered up some watery concentrate…to alliterate, penny pinching parsimony!

Dear Sir
In response of your comment, we just would like to suggest you to travel a bit more as you are completely misunderstanding the concept of a hotel accommodation.
First of all, do not mix up words like "boutique hotel" with "boutique b&b", which applies to our mission of hospitality and wellness.
If you are an interior designer, we could consider your critical comments of our choice of pictures about our decor (frames and words on pictures give you nausea??? Really???), but honestly, we don't think this would interfere in the quality of our service!
Despite your mention that you had stayed with us before (which we doubt as if you were a regular customer, you always knew we did not have a swimming pool at Mareta View in 2013 and we still do not have it in 2017. Unless you don't know the difference between a Jacuzzi and a swimming pool!), we believe as an Independent Local Accommodation Group we could promote all our establishments in our corporate page, and then, a clever person could perfectly understand the difference between them and choose the one of his/her preference. So, in your case, as a traveler, you should read first all our pages, learn a bit of hospitality and hotel policy, instead of publicize a false perspective of our b&b.
Regarding your suggestion of pillows, breakfast (cereal bowls.... really?), orange trees in all streets in Portugal (have you been in Sagres already? There is no orange trees at all!) or even the comment that our receptionist doesn't know to change a battery of a remote control (which is not true, obviously), you just confirm the type of customer you are, teaching us how to manage with complicate people who definitely should not leave their comfort zone...
We accept critical to improve our business as well as to understand our customer's expectations, but unfortunately yours were a little abusive and it deserves a prompt response from our perspective.

Location! Location! Location! This is a SPECTACULARLY LOCATED Hotel. If you book a room at this place, remember to ask for one with a sea view. To wake up and see the view from my balcony, filled my heart with happiness. Even the garden and lawn maintained by the hotel is very beautiful. One can walk through the lawn and within a short distance, reach the beach. The room is good too. The breakfast was just basic and not so great but I was clear that I was booking the hotel for the location and not for anything else. Close to the hotel, after a short walk you find restaurants and pubs and so you have a choice for dinner.
Btw, it has no lifts. Also, am not sure it suits families with kids as I think they do not have a proper functioning kitchen. I think they only have breakfast. Please check with them before booking.
Sagres is a great place for a quiet stay. Lagos and the grottos are just a short drive away.

Room tip: Ask for a sea-view room; They have no lifts - so, don't take very heavy luggage.

The room itself was fine and the view UNBELIEVABLE! The location is central and it is easy to get to places. Despite being off season, the beaches were still (of course) lovely and it was nice to walk along them and well as to hike to the fortaleza and to drive out to Cabo São Vicente for the sunset.

We were checked in just fine on arrival, yet received no assistance heaving our bags up 3 flights of stairs (we are over 65). In fact, the fellow at the desk just watched us go up and said/did nothing. The same happened with check-out. Breakfast was adequate. In short, despite our speaking Portuguese and understanding all that was going on, we felt - for the first time on this 2-week sojourn through Portugal as though we were treated as in-and-out-never-be-back tourists. Disappointing stay... but the area is with a visit!

Room tip: If you are into views, spend the extra for a top floor and get as far to the left in the building as you can.

Very beautifully decorated hotel with a nice view at Mareta beach (ask for sea view room) is popular among surfers or people who want to explore charming and wild coast of Sagres. The rooms are very clean and spacious, breakfast is served in a lovely garden. Excellent value for money.
Not suitable for people with limited mobility, there is no lift.

Room tip: Definitely ask for the sea view room
