This hotel is okay -- mid-range price, location close to the airport, polite staff. The view we had from our window was quite nice. It's air conditioned (would definitely recommend getting a hotel with air conditioning when visiting any island of the Azores during the summer). The restaurant caters to a lot of tour groups and it's quite noisy but the buffets were pretty good. The bathroom is fine -- the tub is very narrow, it's hard to stand normally while showering. Our major complaint is that there was some construction going on while we were there and it continued past 5 pm. The breakfast staff was also fairly rude to us for some reason. This place is reasonable for the price. Not outstanding, but not terrible either.

Front desk staff are excellent. Tania was most helpful and obviously likes helping tourists. Roberto is a font of local knowledge and Susanna was kind and got us a room even though we arrived very early in the morning.
There is secured parking, situated at the rear of the hotel in a courtyard and at the time of writing was 6 Euro's a night. Access was by the hotel provided remote. There is a tree inside the parking and depending on where you park means a little maneuvering to get around.
Breakfast is included and is really good with plenty of choice. One thing that is different from an American buffet is that everything is self service including water, coffee and juice. You do have to ask the wait staff for the waffles. They provide pancake syrup but there is warm chocolate which is great on waffles or bread.
The rooms are all a little different as the hotel is older and has been added on to. Our bathroom had a bath/shower combination which if you have bad knees or hips might be difficult to access. If this is a problem suggest you check first as I am sure this is not the case in all rooms.I
Water is provided on the first day as were tea bags and sugar, but no milk. After that they are not replenished. You can get a pot of tea from the bar, but there is a supermarket very close by and what they call a mini bar, (an empty fridge) where you can store milk etc.
We had a room overlooking the garden, which is in actual fact part of the square. The front desk did tell us that some people complained about squealing tires from people taking the far corner of the square at speed. We did not notice this and the flowers were beautiful.
For us this was a great place to stay, within walking distance of most places and the price was reasonable. We did eat in the restaurant one night which was really good but there are other places to eat around the hotel. The hotel does offer half board and if you have an early departure will give you a continental breakfast to go providing you order before 5pm on the day before. It is delivered to your room before 9pm the evening before.
Roberto did our wake up call and what we really appreciated was a follow up call to make sure we were up.
We will definitely be back.

This hotel is in an older historic building with winding stairways and lots of nooks and hiding places. The service was exceptional and front desk staff helpful! Room was spacious and bathroom clean and big!! The balcony was so calming. The charm of the city could be heard as sitting on the balcony. The breakfast was adequate and food was fresh. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. The location was awesome and 6 euro parking super easy in a city we were not really familiar with. We would stay there again!

Since my first visit in September 2016 with my partner, I have returned twice more, once for a week in March 2017, and again for a week in March 2018 — the most recent time with my partner’s family members. I have stayed in four different rooms...all different from each other, but I enjoyed them all...particularly two with a view of the lovely adjacent part. The staff could not be more helpful or accommodating, and I think the location is perfect. Although everything is modernized, the original part of the building was built in the 1600’s, and as far as I can tell, three addtions have been made over the years (and centuries). If you are looking for charm, you will find it here! The breakfast has *many* selections, with virtually all the choices coming from the Azores... fruit, eggs, cheeses, baked goods, etc. I have travelled to many countries in Europe, but since discovering the Azores and the Talisman, I keep wanting to return. I plan to go back again next year, this time for a longer stay.

This is a nice hotel centrally located close to the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable and overlooking a garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast which was included was very good with a good selection.
