“Horseback riders "Must-Go" -place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2011

We spent a wonderful week riding and staying in Quinta. We chose this place as all of us are riders, but definitely anyone with or without riding experience can stay here. Riding is an optional "bonus" as the bed&breakfast type guesthouse itself is far more enjoyable choice than a regular hotel. All the rooms are individually furnished, and all the Quinta is restored with love and care. Horses were very good, the scenery in the island is like in fairytales, people were also very nice.
Home made food in Quinta was excellent!! And what a breakfast, with all those fresh, delicious fruits I have only dreamt of - here in cold Scandinavia :) !! We had to be very carefull not to eat too much at breakfast as we usually started riding straight after that :)
Higly recommended for riders, active people and anybody seeking something else than a regular hotel accomodation. The photos in their web-pages tell it all; check out if you got interested.

The place is excellent for horseback riding. You will also love it for it's atmosphere and delicious food. The owner couple, swedes Christina and Claude, are lovely, as well as the stuff working at the stables. There's a beach nearby.

Wow, well what a place, it has to be the best kept secret on the island and thats why no one has reviewed it before! Quinta da Terca is a beautiful thoughtful conversion into the best bed abd breakfast we have ever stayed in. You arrive up the drive which is an avenue of flowers to be greeted by Christina and shown to your room. All room have four poster beds which I defy you not to have the best nights sleep of your life in. I think it is a combination of sea air and super comfortable beds. Each bed has 2 single duvets on them so if like us, one is always hot and the other cold, you arent fighting over the duvet! You are 10 minutes gentle walk to the beach, which even in October, the sea was warm to swim in, It is also where you will find the nearest restaurant, Populo, which serves good quality reasonable priced food. I would recommend arranging to eat on site though. We have never eaten Swedish food so didnt know what to expect on our first night of Christinas home cooked food, we didnt know what treats lay in store for us. The food was delicious, soup to start, different every night, followed by fresh tuna or chicken in a creamy herby sauce, then the best chocolate mousse I have ever had, each night 3 different courses, I highly recommend her food! She will take into account likes and dislikes as my fiance doesnt like fish, she made him something seperate while we enjoyed the tuna. THe breakfast was a delight every morning, There was a big selection of fresh fruit, usually pineapple minimum 3 varities of melon, kiwi, pommagranite etc. There was a selection of breads and jams and meat and cheese, every taste catered for and all fresh. We went there for the riding which was fantastic, forward going well behaved horses that loved a good gallop! You dont have to have an equine interest to stay here, they have beautiful gardens and can give you a tour of all the fauna and forna and tell you all the history of the property and its so quiet and peaceful. They will happily take you on tours to local pottery or liquor store or the hot lake to have a swim in and you wont have time to be bored if you want to be kept occupied and there will only be a couple of you so you get a private tour of places! If you want to be left alone to your own devices they will respect that. There is no meet and greet with a list of tours and prices, you decide what and when you wanna do stuff.
So to sum it up, we fell in love with the Azores and Quinta da Terca. If you wanna stay in a hotel room which could be in any hotel anywhere in the world, this isnt the place for you. It is a special place, Where Cluade and Christina will make the stay unforgettable.
