Had a one night getaway with my wife in the hotel. After arriving we went to the bar after asking the front desk if it was open. Front desk assured us that it was. We waited for 10mins. No one came. Went back to the front desk and they apologized and said they would send someone to the bar. No one ever came.

Drain in the shower was clogged. Asked for extra towels to be sent to our room and it took them an hour to arrive.

The staff are very young and have no sense of running a hotel and most likely never trained in the hospitality industry.

Poor hotel. Poor staff that has no management. No heated pool ( as advised on some sites), service is very bad. View is questionable: big parking lot with ocean beyond. No slippers, no bath robes. No coffee/tea available in the room. You have to ask for everything. Breakfast - poor. Two waiters are trying to cope with all guests:(((( disastrous. Never again.

Lower your expectations (this is not 5 stars at an international level) and you will be just fine. Hotel and room lighting can give a bit of sterile feeling, but get used to it quick. Great view out to the sea / marina / Monte Brasil. Breakfast was tasty and varied. Wifi was very weak in our room. If you stay over the weekend, the music from the disco across the marina can get loud and late - sound surprisingly carries far. Friendly and helpful front desk staff.

We made a last minute trip from the US to Angra and were able to find a room at Angra Marina Hotel for a very reasonable price. We arrived at 7 am on an overnight flight but were unable to check in until 2 pm. The hotel does have a place to hold your luggage if you arrive before check-in time. However, we needed a place to sleep. If we were to do it over, we would book the hotel starting the night before our arrival so we could go right to sleep for a few hours. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are quite large. Every room has a view of the ocean and a balcony with table and two chairs. We loved watching the boats going in and out of the marina, and the joggers below. We found the beds to be comfortable, but there was only one not so comfortable pillow per person and the bottom sheet was too small to tuck in so the sheets bunched up during the night. The room was clean and we did not see any mold as some reviewers' photos suggest. The room was very sparsely furnished; i.e., the whole half of the room near the balcony had only a single chair and small table even though the space is large enough to hold a whole seating arrangement. My sense is that this is not an intentional interior design feature; rather, the hotel has not yet been able to afford to fully furnish the rooms. The weather was quite humid during our stay with temperatures in the 70s F. The air conditioning was inadequate to cool and dry the room. The lighting was also sparse and controlled by one single remote. Only the bedside lamps and floor lamp had manual switches. This meant that we often had to go and retrieve the remote when we wanted to turn on the ceiling or bathroom lights. Also, the hall light was motion sensitive so any time we came anywhere in the vicinity of the hall, the hall lights would go on and stay on for several minutes. The bathroom was large and had a bathtub and separate shower, both with shower curtains. The shower curtain for the shower is too short so the bathroom floor will get wet if you take a shower. The toiletries were inadequate, with only a single tiny small soap and a single wash cloth. There is no usable outlet in the bathroom except for one that accommodates an electric razor. The Wi-Fi in the room was excellent and secured. There is also unsecured Wi-Fi in the reception area. Breakfast was so-so. They do not have enough large coffee cups to accommodate all the guests so we had to make do with small cups that we had to keep refilling. Some mornings, the coffee was luke warm. The pool is covered but one wall opens to the outside and there is lounge poolside chairs outside - all very nice and not crowded. The hotel has several outdoor spaces that are lovely and the staff is courteous but many seem to be novices. Again, the sense we got was that the hotel had mostly new staff and many were in training. Although we were there in June and the hotel was full, we had no trouble parking outside. There was plenty of parking inside but it is tricky maneuvering the entrance and exit, so we opted for the outside space when available near the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a tremendous amount of potential. The hotel aspires to be 5 stars; it is not there yet, but we are hoping it gets there sooner rather than later. Small improvements will make all the difference We would stay there again because of the location, magnificent views, large rooms, comfortable mattresses, free parking and the courteous staff.
