It's a great place for children and an amazing way to learn about portuguese history and culture. In my opinion it is a must do here in Coimbra.

What a wonderful place to visit, don't be put off by thinking its just for children, its definitely not, its a wonderland of Portuguese architecture on a reduced scale. You start with themed pavilions relating to the territories from all over the world, where the Portuguese arrived during the Age of Discovery. You next wander into the Monumental area where various styles of architecture from Portuguese history - medieval times to modernism to are represented by a series of buildings. Coimbra is then spotlighted (classified World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2013) by several pleasant replicas and detailed constructions of the most famous monuments in the city.Traditional architecture then takes centre stage with the characteristics of each region of the country being represented by several delightful small houses, built in great detail in miniature.
Admission for adults is 9.95 euros, a photograph will be taken of you when you enter for you to purchase as a souvenir at the end of your visit, but you are under no obligation to buy (cost of photograph is 5 euros). There is also a very nice costume museum, well worth visiting while you are there. This is also done in miniature with 12 inch dolls standing in for models, but the costume are very accurate and it is extremely interesting. There is a tearoom, a coffee shop, a gift shop and toilets on site. Spend at least 2-3 hours, you can easily stay longer as there is so much to look at and enjoy.
