Delicious custard tarts and coffee. A very busy spot but plenty of space to sit down. The food is good value and staff friendly

We chose this restaurant based on other reviews. Indeed excellent choice if you want traditional Portuguese food at convenient location and do not want to pay fortune. Lunch for 5 (appetizer, 4 fish dishes, 1 beef, + 5 beers) , total cost 52.50. Waiter did not speak much English, but who cares if the service is great and food is tasty.

Know that food around the Belem area can be pricey, but what you don't know is that most restaurants will split one meal for two at no extra charge. This usually, both in Spain and Portugal, meant that you would get two drinks as well (we ordered wine and they would bring a bottle and we could take the rest home!). All for one meal's price. We split a very good grilled fish with salad and trimmings, a dessert and coffee for under 12E. You just must ask if you can buy 1 meal and meia/meia (1/2, 1/2 point to yourselves). Works. You will enjoy it and the people were very friendly. Sit way in the back by the AC. Food is home cooking, and it is about the second place on the left, walking away from the monastery down the main street heading back to Lisbon past the trolley station. It faces the trolley tracks.
