Always wonderful to feel Mother Nature strength to understanding how vulnerable we are. This battle between the ocean and the rocks is so intense ...

We didn't get impressed by this location because the water was just flowing in and out of the hole in the rock. We guess it was low tide and therefore the water was pretty calm. But it is a nice stop to drink something, buy a souvenir and enjoy the view.

From Lisbon we took the metro to Cais do Sodre stop then transferred to train (comboio). You do need different tickets to get on train. Take train to Cascais (which is a beautiful coastal village with tons of shops and restaurants). Use Google Maps and head to Boca do Inferno. There is a bathroom there and a few small restaurants. The cliff formations are very beautiful. There is a railing so it is fine for children. We watched the water crashing through the rocks. Afterwards we walked back and had a wonderful lunch with wine and port tasting at The Tasting Room - wine and tapas. After that we walked through shops and headed back. I would say this is a half to 3/4 day activity including travel time.

The Boca do Inferno is an interesting cliff formation close to Cascais, . The constant pounding of the Atlantic Ocean on the cliffs over the centuries has carved out a small cave. Depending on the power of the waves, tourists can climb down for a closer look.

In the summer the waves splash around in the open cave, but during winter storms I am told the waves crash much harder and give more credence to its name.

Boca do Inferno is a popular short from downtown Cascais, along a beautiful ocean side sidewalk. Very scenic, along a beautiful residential neighborhood in this lovely seaside town.
