Located along the coast of the idyllic seaside village of Cascais, Boca do Inferno (literally 'the Mouth of Hell') is a an outcropping of rocks going into the sea where years of waves crashing against it has caused an unusual cave with no roof, which allows you to see the waves come crashing in against its walls.

Realistically that is all there is to Boca do Inferno, but that's not to say it isn't worth seeing. The waves can be quite spectacular, particularly in Winter months, and for those of occultist interest it is where Aleister Crowley infamously faked his own suicide.

With this said I'm not certain it's worth a trip out of Lisbon to see specifically, but at the same time Cascais itself is worth a day trip, and the pleasant walk along to Boca do Inferno means if you do that it's definitely worth a look.

I was expecting something spectacular but when I saw it, it was a bit of a disappointment. If you'll miss it, it's no loss. Better go to Cabo da Roca. That's something you shouldn't miss.

Not far out of town this attraction is well worth a visit. A spectacular fissure in the cliff, with waves crashing in. There are shops and cafes on site and you can walk out onto the surrounding cliffs. Famous for a fake suicide story.

It’s not that special, lower your expectations! The walk from Cascais is easy but the ‘sight’ is only a set of viewing platforms down onto a rocky cove. Not worth a special trip but stop off if you are passing. The cafe by the entrance is nice.

There you have it, a big mass of rock and water. On pictures it looked impressive but once there, it was just ok
