5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

Stayed here in April 2012 and would happily stay here again. The location of the hotel was good, very close to a Metro stop and has a bus stop across the road which runs direct to the airport. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by a friendly and knowledgeable guy on reception who quickly arranged our rooms and advised us of the local facilities. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, with firm beds and pillows. The bathroom had a good powerful shower, the towels were a little on the small side but nothing to really trouble. I would have liked a clock in the room but if thats the only thing I could fault it can't be bad!! The breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold food with friendly and helpful staff. The price of the hotel was very cheap for it's location and i'd certainly stay here again if I go back to Lisbon. Excellent.

The hotel is modern and very clean. The staff are brilliant, really helpful, professional and friendly. Our rate didn’t include breakfast but at check-in we were offered breakfast for only 3 euros per day each. For this price we didn’t expect much but the buffet breakfast was very good with a wide range of hot and cold food. There was free wireless access in the hotel (in our room the signal was stable) and there was a free internet PC near reception. Also by reception and on each floor were vending machines for snacks and cold drinks.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. Although the room wasn’t big it was more than adequate and had lots of storage space. There was aircon, an LCD TV with lots of channels (many showing programmes in English) and a digital lock safe. There was no kettle or fridge in the room but this wasn’t an issue for us. The bathroom had a great shower but no bath, again not a problem for us. Our room was cleaned daily and towels were changed each day.

The HF Fenix Garden is in a great location and it’s easy to get to from the airport by bus. We planned to get the Aerobus but there was a large queue so we took a local bus instead If you don't have a lot of luggage the local buses are fine and are half the price of the Aerobus. We got bus 22 from the airport and took bus 83 back, both stop just by the hotel. Public transport around the hotel is excellent with lots of bus stops and a metro station nearby, also the hop on/hop off city tour buses run from across the street. Also across the street is a pleasant park and there are a few nice bars and restaurants within easy walking distance which seemd to cater more for locals than tourists but we enjoyed this aspect.

We had a great stay at the Fenix Garden and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed two days in the hotel during the weekedn break. Rooms were small, but very clean. Location is very convenient for city visit - metroand bus stop just around the corner, airport bus stops just in front of the hotel, main attractions are in walking distance.

This hotel has many good qualities: it's well located at Marques de Pombal square, the neighborhood feels very safe, with the beautiful Parque Eduardo VII just in front of the Fênix Garden. Which reminds me of a room tip: ask for a room with park view(mine was 605, with very good insonorisation which resulted in 4 nights well slept. One thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness of the room and bathroom, besides the good size of both. I'm not an allergic person but I noticed that the lack of dust was remarkable. Furniture is minimalistic, but agreable in light wood, soft for the eyes(if you appreciate that). There is no fridge or coffee maker, but there are vending machines for mineral water and soda for a fair price.

Buffet breakfast is very good, with a great variety of cold and hot items, different kinds of bread, fruits, yoghurt, granola, juices, coffee, tea, pastries, etc. And it's from 7 to 10:30 a.m, so if you're tired, you can sleep some more and still have an excellent meal.

Last but not least: the price is very affordable, making Fênix Garden a great cost-benefit hotel. If you're not into luxury but want a decent place to stay, you will find it there.

Stayed here for 4 nights recently and found it very easily coming from the airport. No 22 bus from airport stops right around the corner from same. Was a trifle upset when I saw the traffic outside the hotel, it was non stop and very very noisy, The receptionists who were all so helpful assured us that the whole hotel was soundproofed and sure enough as soon as we were inside the hotel the noise stopped. The price was amazing 65 euro for a twin room and this included breakfast, which was one of the best I have had in many years travelling. Everything every one needed. was available. Room was perfect as was bathroom. Hotel was fine but absolutely characterless. Only 1 problem, there was not 1 decent restaurant in the whole area around the hotel. I should know as I spent an hour 1 evening searching the entire area around the hotel, looking for a restaurant, not 1 to be found. Maybe others were luckier. A big bonus of the hotel was that they had a vending machine on each floor where you could get a soft drink or a chocolate bar. Very good idea.

Went on a five night trip to Lisbon earlier this month. The previous reviews were correct: bus from the airport stops a 2 minute walk from this hotel. A taxi in the morning to the airport is affordable and direct (less than EUR 20). THe metro is a few steps away and is the best way to visit the city efficiently. Rooms are big, clean, and cosy-didn't hear the neighbours. Only negative was that there was no tea or coffee in the room and the breakfast became a little redundant (not many options for non pork eating people). The neighbourhood also felt safe, and the ATMs are nearby as the avenue (ave. Libertade) is a sort of Business hub/Champs Elysees kind of area. Pretty nice walking down this streets that leads to the centre.

We stayed there for one week at the end of march 2012. I can say with all confidence, that this hotel is situated in a very comfortable and good location, near old town. It was a very comfortable place. Staff was very friendly. One day we asked them almost 6-9 questions, and they patiently answered all of them. Thanks them a lot!!! Breakfast was good, but not very interesting) Cakes was good, but other foods weren't changed all week. It was quiet in there. And also the hotel was located not far from airport. So location was very good. The metro station and bus stop, that goes to another side of the town, where the monastery was situated, also were near the hotel! And supermarket was on top of the hiil, on what was the hotel. On the other side, was a very good park, also situated on the hill, from what a very beautiful view on the whole of the city could be seen!
Stay in this hotel, and you will have excelent trip to Lisbon!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
An urban haven where the commotion does not enter. To enjoy the city does not mean you need to do without some peace and privacy. The HF Fénix Garden provides the desirable paradox of staying in the heart of Lisbon and feeling protected from all stress. The referential acoustic insulation allows you to observe the city bustle from the window as if it is not real. A strange feeling of seclusion kept in the wide aisles and common areas where, even if the hotel is full, you can feel peace. The decoration and comfort of the HF Fénix Garden make you forget the city and even that you are in a three star hotel. Something that you will only remember on check-out. Very closed to the hotel is Marquês de Pombal, several of Lisbon's main points of interest and all the transportation networks in the city. The HF Fénix Garden offers several free services, such as Internet access in the entire hotel. But the most surprising offer is the feeling of staying in an oasis in the middle of the city. ... more   less
