We went with friends to hear the fado music and have a meal. We were very happy with the food--it was fresh, tasty and traditional Portuguese. The staff also made extra effort to accommodate our friends who have some allergies to certain foods.
But the best part?! The music of course! We loved the music and the way that the meal courses were served around the various music sets.
Make a reservation!
Excellent.

Steak, chicken, negra ham, three types of cod, shrimp.. everything was delicioso! Also liked the way the fado singers interspersed with courses .. so you got to enjoy the fado and the dinner all together without the servers walking through the artists.
Also they had several fado singers, giving it variety and allowing us to compare etc.

We booked a table for four as the place is recommended for listening to Fado music. The place tries to be posh. The food is avarage - my soup was luke warm. Cod dish and octopus risotto was too salty, duck and chicken was ok.
There were 4 Fado singers, each sung for some 15 minutes. The first two were ok, the third lady was good and the last one was really good. She was worth listening to. But I will never come there again as they overcharged for the food. When I checked the bill the next day I found out that they charged us for more expensive dish (almost double the price) than we ordered. In my opinion the food there is expensive enough and they do not have to make extra money by charging for more expensive dishes they actually serve

Dear TripAdvisor readers and reviewers

Concerning this review, we feel compelled to inform that we have contacted this client and tried to clear an apparent misunderstanding. The client, though, chose not to accept our point of view.

Our answer goes to those who read this review.

We really do value all the reviews and improve with the remarks our clients share with us.
In what this review is concerned, though, there is an issue which we consider to be offensive: this client pretends we cheated on the bill and we cannot accept the accusation.
We have charged for what was asked at the price that was on the menu – there could have been a mistake (mistakes happen), but there was no such thing.

Most of the clients who choose us for a dinning and Fado experience leave the restaurant with a great impression, but we can understand we can’t please everybody and respect that, but being accused of cheating on the bill is something different.

One thing we are proud of is being honest. This is a family owned restaurant and we have been on this business for the last 35 years, which must to mean something!

Thank you for reading this answer.

Kindest regards from Lisbon

Went there with a couple of relatives on recommendation. The atmosphere was nice, the food and wine was great. We've had a 3 fado singers of which the oldest lady was great. Overall a very nice evening, but a bit overpriced.

Tucked away on a narrow street (set amid narrow streets), tis is a place you must go to for exceptional food and exceptional music--to be had in abundance with reasonable cost. Faia has been around for a few years, and is now in its second ownership--a family that takes great pride in presenting the best in music and food.

We received a wonderful welcome as a prelude to a very memorable evening. The Sea Bass was great, but the grilled octopus was beyond wildest expectations. Cooked perfectly and served atop a delicious accompaniment--and all paired with a great bottle of wine, the meal was one of the best we have ever had.

Then the lights dimmed and the Fado began. It was the highpoint of the night, which is saying a lot considering the exceptional food. Playing were two highly skilled guitarists and notable singers, at least in Lisbon. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The restaurant owner called our cab for us--a good idea as the taxi driver from our hotel had trouble finding it. The courtesy shown throughout was wonderful. This is one place you cannot miss, if you love Portuguese food, music and culture.
