It was a wonderful night life we enjoyed a lot, bars and so many restaurants in this area but some of them really provide fresh fish as well as nice wine, very nice and funny bar Cohiba.

This is a great part of Lisbon to spend time in as there is lots to do and see all within a small radius. Walk along the river, check out bars and restaurants. Small and friendly individual shops and lots of hills to walk up and down. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Explore the back streets of the Alto, remember Lisbon is built on seven hills, just like Rome, so remember to wear good comfortable shoes. Have seen some tourists wearing high heels trying to walk (with little dignity) along the uneven small tiled footpaths - how impractical and injurt prone, dont risk it, be like the locals, move with grace and close to the ground. Carry an umbrella in the spring or autumn as it can really bucket down, dont get caught out. Great shopping (where the locals shop), especially shoes.

Im staying in this barrio you are walking distance to the time out market and train stations and close to all the tourists areas with out the crowds its safe and they have a laundromat near by bring some walking shoes and camera

Bifanas, cheap drinks, nice people, and loads of free entrance bars. I would advise everyone to get to know Bairro.

Not necessarily the best quality of restaurants but this is the livelest area with the most options. Drugs very openly on sale here on nearly every crossroads. As a couple we were surprised to be openly asked many many times. Although this is happening the area feels safe and is the best nightlife area to visit.
