This hotel is generally fine.

Lovely staff from Dinis who checked me in to Rita who gave me the quick tour, thank you for the warm welcome.

DVDs in all rooms and good DVD library. Nice spacious rooms with good light.

Wifi is 15 euros per day but only ONE device per voucher. You can log in and out so one voucher can last longer than 24 hours.

Small mosquito problem in May (must be worse in Summer) and no in room repellants- the best they could offer was sunburn cream.

Lapa Palace has a fair range of facilities - small gym, small indoor pool (nice temperature)/ outdoor pool/ sauna/ steam- ladies changing area feels a little on the small sweaty side.. The staff are all very sweet. Sweet is the word though... I was on the ground floor initially which didn't feel to safe if you are a solo traveller and like to sleep with fresh air as the option is the balcony doors.. Had a change of room to the 6th floor- what a difference! The light and the open view made a real positive difference. At 30% occupancy I do not understand why they would stick me on the ground floor in the first place...

The hotel is quite a (hilly) walk from the main area or Avenue de Liberdade but taxi's can be called although expect the driver to try it on when they see you are picked up from the hotel eg. one driver tried charging me 'hotel tax'..another reset his meter before I could check what it was as it was strategically placed infront of the passenger side which has a very high seat head rest obscuring your view..anyhow- in general they are all friendly and will back down if you let them know they are being cheeky.

Unfortunately the same can not be said for the hotel's Room Service or rather the gentleman who took my order, Luis. So on my second night I wanted a green salad and asked about bruschetta which wasn't in the main menu selection. Luis suggested he would make some and promptly arrived with the dish and accompaniments. I could hardly believe it when I signed and saw it billed at 20 euros. Luis explained it was this price because it was counted as a sandwich! But this was even at the upper range of their sandwich price list all of which contained either meat or fish. I am certain that you don't need to be Italian to find as I did this to be a complete joke. To add insult to injury the bruschetta is listed in canapes as 2 euros per portion. Well I certainly didn't have 10 portions! I did find it odd that after it was perfectly clear that this was a cheeky gesture which should have been adjusted I did not even get a call back even though I asked Luis to pass my comments on to the Room Service Manager. Needless to say it put me off ordering in room dining again so Luis made 20 bucks and lost 100.

This incident kind of sums up my feelings about Lapa Palace. It could be alot better if some of the staff trying on Four Seasons prices could offer Four Seasons sophisticated service which would involve more of a discussion than simply 'sorry but the customer is always wrong' approach.

The standard of food in Room Service was generally good and fairly priced for this kind of hotel although some dishes had a touch of the amateur experimenter about them for example I found it difficult to avoid ordering something that didn't involve the chef's penchant for cream (milkshake (fair enough), gazpacho (um- ok), garlic foam (not really..).

I really don't know if I would stay here again as I don't like the feeling that someone is taking me for a ride so blatantly and without any reservations on their part when doing so.. However the best part of this stay was that it was so quiet with use of Spa area feeling very exclusive so perhaps I may visit off season when it has good offers and value for money. Also you would get more pleasure from this style of place if staying with friends/ partner.

We had an excellent stay here, room upgraded, great service. The location is a bit out of the way but is a 5 minute taxi from most places and the major upside is the peace and quiet of the area. Fabulous views out over the city, well kept gardens and pool. Special mention of the concierge staff who made fantastic recommendations for places to eat, and arranged reservations, spot on. Also excellent, if a little pricey, caipirinhas to be had.

I have come back from a week in Lisboa and I stayed here at Lapa Palace for the week. I was warmly welcomed on arrival by Rui the concierge, and with the help of the hotel team, including Ines and Rita in reception everything was fantastic. I was given a lovely spacious room, with a great size bed (I am 188 cms) and nicely decorated. I pre-booked my breakfasts, and they were delicious. I took a good hour over mine each day! The garden and the pool were like a tropical paradise in this lovely city, and the area is pleasant and quiet! It seems all the houses around the hotel are where all the ambassadors live! The staff were all friendly, and the service was impeccable. Professional and relaxed.

Room Tip: Although you pay more for a view of the Tejo river, the setting of the pool is lovely anyway. You wi...

My boyfriend and I recently spent a week in Lisbon and chose to splurge the first 3 days on a hotel. We chose this place and it did not disappoint. Mainly because Hugo, the concierge was outstanding. He told us all the places to go, set up reservations, and basically was the coolest guy in Lisbon. We loved the rooms and spa. And the hotel bar was a great place to start the evening. We stayed at another hotel after this and it was not up to par!

After seeing some reviews of the hotel Lapa Palace is my favorite, and the city of Lisbon, had to leave my comment.
The Hotel is simply marvelous, Built in the 19th-century, this luxurious palace is nestled on a hilltop overlooking the Tagus River. I have a drink at the hotel bar was wonderful and had a musician playing the piano.
My dinner in the hotel restaurant was fantastic, the food was the best prepared and the presentation was wonderful.
All the staff were the max, always attentive to our needs, thank you all.

We must not forget that the Hotel Lapa Palace is a 5 star hotel and the prices of the meals are higher, but I can tell you that the food was the best and I cannot forget breakfast was divine.
Lisbon is a beautiful city to visit, hundreds of places you can visit in Lisbon. Some are hidden among the narrow streets of old town, so the best thing to do is venture out and discover them.
Filled with ancient history and a contemporary lifestyle, Lisbon mix the old and new.

Down the Chiado and Bairro Alto, you'll find some of the trendiest restaurants and bars in Lisbon. During the day the streets are filled with animated the crowds strolling the museums of modern art, by retailers, by art galleries, the cafes or the grocery stores that sell gourmet products.

From Low to Praça Marques de Pombal Lisbon will see a different picture, with theaters, train stations, cafes and large squares where strolling. Head to Bethlehem to see the majestic Jeronimos Monastery, the famous Tower of Belem and the many museums that surround it and some days the entries are free.
Do not forget to taste the famous Pastel de Belém
I must not forget also the magnificent riverside restaurant "Piazza di Mare" which is 10 minutes from the magnificent Lapa Palace.
The Piazza di Mare is a restaurant bar with a magnificent view over the river Tejo where they could see the bridge over the Tagus all lit up and also the Cristo Rei
Thanks Lisbon, Lapa Palace thanks.

I´ve been coming here for years, mostly for business, and it´s a unique place in Lisbon. It´s tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, but once you find it, it´s simply fabulous, both the grounds and the rooms. Based in an converted palace, the rooms are truly spacious, and extremely well-appointed. Service and staff are courteous, welcoming and helpful.

And the swimming pool and garden are a real oasis in the centre of this charming old city. The restaurant is also very good, and if all you need is a snack, make sure to order a "prego" - a juicy veal slice and melted camembert in a mini baguette, truly hits the spot!

A must for any discerning traveller.

Room Tip: I´ve stayed in various rooms on various floors. For an unforgettable stay, choose a suite on the top...
