Small hotel witha a patio and tasty interios
Our room was very large and with all facilities
Breakfast is good with all you need
It was a piano player in the evening that l thing was noisy and we could not read in our room in peace
The other problem of te hotel is that is quite far from the center, about 20 minutes on foot
The area is very unspoiled touristically and plenty of restaurants around with no tourists
We will come back

Room Tip: Get a junior suite

Heard about the York House a lot and took the opportunity for a Night Over and to check it out . So , before i go to the likes i will to resume what i personally didnt find very attractive . Location : The York House is located in a quite Street close the National Museum of Old Art ( Museu Nacional de Art Antiga ) , Disctrict called SANTOS . So , if you take the Train from Lisbon Cais do Sodré or from Cascais make sure that you go out at the Train Station called SANTOS . By foot from there its about 15 Min a bid uphill but nothing you cant handle . If you have a Rent-a-Car , well at the moment there are some parkings spots " nearby " but to get one isnt that easy . If you wanna Book and arrive with a Rent-a-Car ask if the Hotel offers private Parkings Spots . Otherwise , the Parking Spots avaliable are payed and a 24H Ticket about 5/7 Euros +/- . I really think the best way to arrive is by Taxi / or by foot ( from the Train Station ) . Its located in a quit Street even with some construction ongoing during the weekdays its not that loud comapred with other locations . There is a 24/7 Doorman but the Maingate Closes so that you during the Nighthours need to ring the Bell to access the Hotel . I didnt found a alternative Way after the Maingate to access the Hotel then climb up some stairs . So f you have small children who need a Buggy prepare to do some Biceps Excercise ( nothing hard ) but ...With a wheelchair , well i dont think its propper or possible for some with a wheelchair , so if you need one check a alternative access in Advance please . You arrive the Patio , nice during Summer and Winter , and get immediatly a view also to the " Breakfast / Small Restaurant " Area . The Patio and the convinience Service ( snacks / beverage ) can also you be used by walk in s and its not restriced just for Guests . The Reciption is friendly and Professional . Got the Room 407 Superior Dobbel Room and it was as expected . Clean , Cozy and nothing to complain about . The breakfast ( didnt use the Patio - had it on the room ) was more then satisfactory . Overall , i loved to stay here . I guess the Hotel speaks more to ( please forgive me ) younger / middleaged / older couples without children which look for a Hotel where the Staff is not " too over friendly " but friendly in a Professional Way , quit and well located ( not in Lissbons Center but also not so far away ) . Does it compete with other Hotels in the same Street ? Yes , it does and i will check out the other just to guarantee my review is fair .

Romantic place to stay, with character.
We stayed in a nice superior room. Staff nice and helpful. Good location and quiet street. Managed to get us a babysitter in the evening. Speak several languages.

York House is not for the Four Seasons type traveler, but if you are looking for old world charm, warm hospitality and a true Lisbon experience then this hidden hotel is just what you need. Located on a narrow street without any grand entrance, in fact the entrance is hard to spot. You enter into a small foyer and proceed up ancient stone steps. There is quite a climb, maybe 3 stories up these windy outdoor tree covered stones. There is no elevator that I know of. The bellman is quite good and deserves a great tip for climbing those stairs. Once at the top you enter a very nice courtyard with mature trees and nice tables. There is a very nice drink and snack menu available and the service is good. The front desk folks are well versed in English and check in was smooth. Our room was really spacious, a little dated but super comfortable. There was a complimentary decanter of port in our room which was a highlight for me!! The air conditioner was ok but not great, but we did sleep good. Breakfast was the European standard with sliced meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, yogurts, pastries and an addition of eggs, bacon and sausage. I was impressed by their level of detail for breakfast. There are many restaurants nearby and it is a safe are to walk. All in all we had a very nice real Lisbon experience. We would definitely return.

Visited York Hotel decades ago. Still remember with delight. Converted monestary I think with the great plaça depicted on the street with the most delightful name: Street of the Green Windows. Room was across the street, simple stroll over to the plaça for meal or snack. My daughter will visit Lisboa in early fall; recommending it to her.

York House is a small charming hotel in a peaceful area of Lisbon. After ascending a long and steep set of stairs you arrive at a very pleasant courtyard which was an oasis of calm and tranquility. Breakfast is served there in the morning and it made for a good start to the day. All the staff were friendly and helpful and I would certainly afford them the highest praise for their commitment. Our room was rather basic and although architecturally beautiful it did not have the wow factor. You could say that everything necessary was there; however one bath towel each is inadequate and the hairdryer was basic. Combined with the lack of tea and coffee making facilities which would have certainly improved our stay I have to give this hotel an average rating.. This was particularly important as we had an early morning departure to the airport where we encountered chaotic queues

I was attending a conference at Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, and the nearest hotels were all fully booked. York House appears to be a reasonably priced 4-star choice somewhere in between the Congress Center and Cais do Sodré, a Metro/tram/bus/ship hub near the city centre. While the distance of 2-3 bus stops from Cais do Sodré is a 15-20 minute walk up a gentle slope (please take the bus or tram), there are 49 rocky steps of stairs from the roadside curb to the hotel lobby and courtyard. Just imagine dragging your luggage up those bumpy stairs on a hot summer day.
Then there are 29 steps of squeaky wooden stairs before getting to my room. The door key is chained to an enormous silver medallion, which adds more noise to the ambience. The room is old-fashioned but comfortable, the wardrobe is spacious and the bathroom is tidy. Although the walls transmit sounds from neighbouring rooms as well as the corridor, there is not much problem getting a quiet night's sleep. The free wifi and air conditioning work properly. There is complimentary bottled water every day. Beware of small fruit flies that come into the room during housekeeping.
The courtyard is refreshing and uplifting, good for breakfast and dining, basking in the sun, or simply reading a book or sipping a glass of wine. The morning buffet breakfast is simple but adequate, with Pastéis de Nata, eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh fruits, juices, bread, cake, croissants, cereal, cheese, salmon, cold cuts, tea and coffee. It is supposed to begin at 7:30am, but when I get there at 7:00am for an early breakfast on the conference days, majority of the foodstuffs are available. There is a hotel restaurant down the stairs too, but it seems to be very quiet.
