This museum had a variety of decorative exhibits including finely crafted furniture, exquisite tapestries and embroideries, unusual porcelain figures, and overall elaborate rococco and baroque decoration. Overall it gives a strong impression of Portugal's particular taste.

Thank you very much for your review.

I enjoyed this museum because it has many objects gathered and made during Portugal's early overseas expansion. They include art objects and artifacts that came from colonies explored and ruled by early Portuguese explorers and colonial rulers. This museum is not mobbed, which is a delight in and of itself. We spend an hour or two of quiet and peaceful ruminations on what propelled the seafarers to explore the "New World."

Interesting opportunity to see inside an upscale house of that period. Easy to get to in Lisbon with lots to do in the area. Don’t recall it being very expensive and enjoyed the brief visit. Admission not available with Lisboa card. Probably spent under 30 min. there.

We walked from the Central Square by the ocean to this wonderful private palace. It was a lovely walk and ascending through the morning sunshine we passed the church Sė de Lisboa with its fabulous romanesque vaulted ceilings, taking in the wonderful views at Miradouro de Santa Luzia and finally reaching our goal the museum of decorative or Fundação Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva. This is a wonderful authentic home of a collector and a patron of the arts. There was an exhibition of writing desks from the graduate class, it's held every year. Wonderful individual pieces showing the skill and personality of the class. There are workshops in the building for various crafts which the foundation supports. The. Museum itself is mostly 17th and 18th century pieces and mostly fron Portugal and its colonies. Wonderful pieces from Goa and Brazil. Definitely worth the small entrance fee. Will go back again if I can see the workshops in term time.

Thank you very much. It will be a pleasure to have you back to visit the workshops.
The Decorative Arts Museum was a highlight for us - a fantastic old mansion filled with a personal collection of art and furniture.
