Casa Balthazar is a great boutique hotel with amazing views of the city of Lisbon from many of the rooms [make sure you ask for one with a view]. It is located in a lively neighborhood, walking distance from many good restaurants, bars, and cafes yet perfectly quiet when you get back to your room. The rooms were spacious and had good bathrooms. There is lovely art scattered throughout the property and tasty treats available in the public sitting room. I would highly recommend a stay here. You get high quality + a good value compared fro some of the 5*** hotels.

This was our favorite lodging of a five week trip. Located in an interesting and lively part of the city, all is calm behind the protected walls. Our room, although apparently the smallest of all, was like a little apartment, well designed and with spectacular sunrise views of the city. The continental breakfast was yummy and the staff helpful. we were particularly taken with the quality of the modern art throughout the property. A very cool vibe, even parking if you need it!

Wonderful welcome, nice bottle of wine, fruit, waters, everything one could want in the room. The room was beautiful and huge, nicely appointed, plenty of closet space, safe. Lots of windows overlooking the courtyard. Huge bathroom. Robes and slippers. Fruits and Nespresso machine in room, refrigerator with milk, water, etc. at no charge. front desk gave Great recommendations for everything , restaurants, tour guides, etc. many guide books available to read. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The courtyard was perfect for breakfast, little tables set up next to the swimming pool. Nice walking area. Easy for transportation. Near train station. Near metro stop. Fabulous breakfast, best croissants I’ve had in a long, long time. (I live in the u.s., though). Nice cakes in the afternoon. Would definitely stay here again! Beautiful, beautiful place, would not even want a 5 star hotel if this is available. Easily give it 7 stars!

We were looking for a nicely property centrally located and came across Casa Balthazar. Other than the fact that our uber driver would not drive up the narrow hilled street and I had to find the non descript entrance street side, everything about our visit exceeded our expectations. Very helpful staff allowed us to drop our bags early (as we were to take the train to Sintra for the day) and when we returned everything was nicely in our room. Every room is very unique and we had the ‘pool’ room. Very nice sized room opening onto a courtyard with a lovely warmed and lighted pool and garden area. Great bedding and storage, excellent bathroom and shower. Complimentary drink.

Nice gathering rooms in lobby, sun room, lounge and lounges in the garden area. Breakfast is served in your room, best part of which is that the breakfast comes with food from the Pasteis National, the famous pastry and cookie shop. Turns out the family that owns the pastry shop owns the hotel/b&b.

Location is steps from the train station, historic squares, and short walks to Baixa and Chiado.

Highly, highly recommend Casa Balthazar. Next time I come back I may choose one of the jacuzzi overlooking Baixa.

Casa Balthazar is a beautiful and elegant boutique hotel. It has a lovely courtyard, garden, and common living areas. We enjoyed a room with a terrace with a private jacuzzi. The views were incredible! The location was excellent and the breakfast in the room was wonderful each day. We would highly recommend this hotel. Happy travels!
