Owner description: Time Out Market is a concept created from scratch by the Time Out Portugal team with only the best ideas and business projects in Lisboa – according to the editorial team. If it’s good, it goes in the magazine, if it’s great, it goes into the market. 24 restaurants, 8 bars, a dozen shops, a cooking school and a high-end music venue, all with the very best in Lisbon (the best chefs, the best steak, the best hamburger, the best sushi and the best live performances, amongst others); on the other hand the market is home to some of the city’s best known (and longest-running) market vendors of meat, fish, fruit and flowers. The foodhall has 40 restaurants/shops served by more than 500 seats in covered area and 250 more outside.

Yes, this place is very busy, and at peak times it can be difficult to find a seat. If you are looking for quiet intimacy, it ain't gonna happen here... but if you want an uptempo contemporary vibe and excellent - I mean excellent - choices for Portuguese (and world) cuisine then don't miss it! We went here three times for supper during our 5 days in Lisbon. We recommend that you hunt for seats first (never took more than 5 minutes to find for us) and then one will "hold the fort" while the other(s) go to order.

My favourite was the whole chicken (Portuguese style) at Miguel Laffan - and my wife enjoyed the goat cheese salad with honey ice cream (!) at Cozinha da Felicidade. Hint: don't order your drinks from the restaurant with your food - order your wine and/or beer from the little place just outside the northeast corner of the food court (to the right of Miguel Laffan) - it is cheaper and quicker and you can bring it to your table separately.

The market is right across the street from the Cais do Sodre metro station.

A great choice for a group of people where you might not all want the same thing. A fantastic choice of food and drinks and an amazing vibe - there was salsa dancing in the middle on a casual Wednesday night. Only drawback is that there isn't enough seating - but highly recommended!

This market is huge! Offers a large choice of food and drinks. The best to do is to go with friends after the rush of 9pm.
Find a seat before ordering if you are many people, order before seating if you are 2 or 3

Very hard to even walk around to view the different offerings from each store / stall. If you do find something you would like to eat there is little to no chance of getting a set at any of the meal times.
